Russia’s wand would be made of blackthorn because it is best suited to a ‘warrior’ and if he is anything, he is a soldier. He himself has gone through several instances of hard times and trials and I believe that the wand would be attracted to both this and the power those trails have forced him to cultivate. A dragon heartstring core’s power would bond well with Russia, as well as it’s tendency to learn quickly. The fact that it is compatible with dark magic if the owner turns that way would not be amiss with Russia’s wand as he would not truly hesitate to delve into the lesser of dark magics if it was to protect himself. That is not to say that he would use dark magic on someone just for kicks. Russia can be unwavering in his beliefs, but because of his nation status he can be swayed into other beliefs, thus a slightly supple wand would work fairly well. Eleven inches, on the other hand, was chosen just because it felt right. There is no other true justification than that aside from the fact that it’s about halfway between the two extremes.

Canonly speaking Russia is a cheerful, country bumpkin with the cruelty of a child. That said, Russia’s childish face is mostly a mask he uses to protect himself. He is ultimately a strategist and a soldier whose first reaction is fight over flight. Thus, he would find himself drawn to defense spells and dark spells both. He would love the thrill using these gives him. He is straightforward in his motions and would not particularly find charms of much use, while defense is a straight on thing. Transfiguration would be a bit better but still subpar to defense since he would lack the focus it would take to transfigure things perfectly unless he was concentrated and whole invested in the outcome. However, Russia would like classes like Care of Magical creatures and Herbology simply because it is caring for animals and plants which are not as frightened of him. Though it is possible magical creatures would not appreciate his creepy aura. Canonly Russia is very fond of sunflowers and it’s quite possible these might be the only plants he truly cares for.

The main characteristic of Slytherin is ambition, and Russia has that in spades. In the “To the Unfinished Tomorrow” strip, Russia is shown to have gone in and scoped out the axis powers. His comments when asked are that he liked Germany’s allies (Italy and Japan) as well as his land and food but he concludes it with a simple “They seem very easy to manipulate.” This shows just how Russia is willing to manipulate things to gain what he wants. In most cases this is so that other nations become one with him. This too proves his sly and cunning side. As for if he doesn’t get into Slytherin; Ravenclaw would be the house he would get into. It's the second best fit for him, but it's not as precise as Slytherin would be. Russia seeks knowledge, but mostly he does this not just for the sake of knowing as a true raven would, but to better himself.
