A big time-change yawn out to everyone. I’m tired, cold and really just want to climb back under the cocoon-like covers of my bed all warm and comfy. I hate this particular time change. Sure the extended daylight hours are great, but the fact that my ass is out of bed an hour earlier is just enough to make grumpy in the morning for the next few weeks while I adjust. And really, why should the entire country with a few exceptions have to do this crap? What do we live in the 18 Century? Bah!
I am so over this tax season. Because I was an idiot when filling out my W4 when I signed on board for this job, I now owe the IRS a boatload of money. Tell me how or why it makes sense to give money back to people that never really put any into the taxing system. Income redistribution, kiss your money goodbye some so idiot can go buy a six-pack and a flat screen TV, while the rest of us struggle to pay out bills. I won’t even BEGIN to get on that soapbox.
In other news. Because we had so much rain over the weekend, we started to experience some water intrusion in the basement bedroom. So Saturday night was spent dealing with that problem. Luckily there was some beer available to drown out our miseries.
My cousin had heart surgery yesterday and is currently recovering in the ICU. Maybe I’ll have a chance to visit him tonight.
And last but not least, my flexible spending account carrier is trying to swindle me out of 81 dollars.
I’ll tell ya when it rains it fucking pours.
Last night I took advantage of the extended daylight hours and started trimming some trees on my property. I took a bit off of a tree in the front yard, and started to remove EVERYTHING on a tree in the back. With any luck I can just get rid of this tree.
Tinkering
Over the weekend I did a bit of circuit analysis and I believe I was able to get my solar flare monitor to work. Well sort of. I was able to successfully tune the gyrator in the circuit to a 24Khz signal I was piping in from a signal generator. Then I Was able to vary the gain in the amplifier stage and monitor the voltage change on the integrator portion of the circuit.
Currently I am working on a smaller loop antenna since the six foot one I have is a little too big and not really designed for 24Khz.

Major rain and wind over the weekend. Some of the gusts reached 70 MPH. The gymnasium roof of a nearby high school blew completely off. Trees were knocked over all around the neighborhood.
