Because it's what you should do

The gift I got for my brother for his B-day came in the mail . . . a Laserdisc of one of his favorite movies, Crossroads. Had to do a good bit of searching to find it, and he should like it a lot.

Thing is, friends who know the both of us, wonder why I even bother, since my brother tends to be a selfish prick. He never remembers anyone else's Birthday for one thing (I'm constantly reminding him of the B-days of our family members--including our Grandmother who just turned 75 last month), and generally never even thinks about getting anyone else gifts.

Ontop of that, he's generally treated me like shit over the years, not to mention his getting me in trouble with the law--at least financially, as well as having next to no ambition to do anything with his life. And he's lazy as all hell--not helping out in my Mom's house in the least bit, and when he does, it's always begrudgingly and full of protest.

And he treats my mother like crap who is the main reason he has a roof over his head right now--if it were up to my Stepfather (who is one great guy if you ask me, putting up with both my mother and brother--and myself for that matte--over the years), he'd throw him out because he's not even trying to be anything more than a leech--at the age of 35!!!

So why do I bother? I dunno, I guess I'm just too nice and my sense of generosity tends to overtake most other sensibilities.

That and I've always thought that you should give without ever expecting anything in return. And that's what I do.

dipshit brother, giving gifts
