They sat under the March sky thinking about their futures. Where would life take them next? Close one door, open another? Would life lead them to their dreams of athletes? Would life let them travel the world like rock stars from Sweden to Paris to Montreal and then all the way back to Tokyo? Or would life make them sit at a desk all day and become salary men?
They didn’t know. But as two best friends watched the clouds roll by they thought of the still open door to those dreams of theirs. Even if they become ordinary adults from today onwards they will always feel the glow of that endless summer.

She found it oddly similar to Romeo and Juliet the way the two met. Except rather than find each other across the room at a masquerade ball, they were at an anime convention and just so happened to have a mutual friend. She felt really embarrassed to be seen in such a slutty costume by such a pretty boy, even if all she could see was his mouth. At least his mouth was pretty. When he took off his mask and hat he was a million times more beautiful, sadly she wasn’t the only one to notice. When she was pushed aside by her fellow sailor scouts the beautiful boy tried to reach out for her, but he was smothered by the 4 other girls. He managed to squeeze out, “the costume is cute” before they dragged him off to the cosplay contest at the other side of the convention hall.
When all 6 of them posed for a group shot at the end of the day, after of course winning the contest, they congratulated each other and the 4 scouts tried to pass Tuxedo Mask their mail addresses. Of course he took them but then asked Sailor Mars for hers personally, she gave it to him. He smiled then kissed her on the cheek handed her a rose and walked off. He mailed her instantly, the email said to call him Tomohisa. She smiled and replied with a “call me Keiko.”
His reply mail then read, “I’m glad we got to meet Sailor Mars because Tuxedo Mask never really liked Sailor Moon anyways.”

She hated these. Her parents had arranged a multitude of these omiai but they had never worked out. She’d put up at tough front at first but the more men she rejected the more times her parents attempted to set another date for another omiai. She grew tired of it and her front dissolved into nothing but a sad little girl who just wanted to be left alone.
The frustration of not being able to make her own decisions was becoming unbearable. She understood that her father wanted a secure and well educated man to take over the family business but did they all have to be twice her age?
One day she couldn’t take it anymore and locked herself in her private washroom. She sat on the cold tile floor and cried until her eyes were raw and her throat was sore. Then the door clicked open. She thought it was going to be her mother who scolded her, but it wasn’t. Not even close. It was Koki, her teddy bear of a best friend. When she looked up at him with those red eyes he knelt down to the floor in front of her and pulled her into one of those teddy bear embraces. She noticed something different about his hug. It was tighter than they usually were and he never rested his head on her shoulder before. “I love you,” he said. The song of his love was something she wanted to play on heavy rotation. But she knew she couldn’t. Her father would never approve of her middle class friend becoming the heir to the Kojima Group. Though how she wished she could marry him instead.
