Kurenai couldn't help but smile a little. She remembered her earlier years as a teacher, wandering from school to school as a substitute, wondering when she would get her own classroom.
"Inuzuka-sensei, was it?" She asked, motioning her hand towards a chair, indicating for Hana to take a seat. "I'm quite picky about my substitute teachers but please, don't be intimidated by that. I just want to know a brief background of your knowledge of chemistry."
She took a seat, biting her bottom lip. "Well, I'm 20 years old, I have a younger sibling," Hana paused, and decided to leave out her parents. "And, ummm...I plan to be a Vet. My history in chemistry is basically that I passed it my sophomore year of highschool with a 98." She shrugged. "Not the top of the class but not the lowest."
"A 98, hm?" Kurenai repeated to herself, surprised. "Not top of the class but certainly up there. If only I could have a student like you in my class."
Kurenai still wasn't sure, whether to trust someone who hadn't had any chemistry experience in five years to teach her own class.
"Well, since it will be a couple of weeks until I do take a leave, I wonder if it's alright with you to meet up some other time and go over my lesson plans with you?"
She smiled, trying not to send away Hana crying as she has many other substitute teachers before her.
She blushed lightly at the compliment, but it quickly dissipated at the thought of teaching. That was unexpected. "W-wait. You want me to teach the class, Kurenai-san? How long are you taking leave?" she blurted out. "I-I mean I'll do it but I was expecting something that was one day with worksheets. I'd do all I could to helps students who have questions but teaching? Is that your requirement of substitutes is to teach the material?" Hana looked away embarrassed. Darn teachers and their teaching mojos. "I'm sorry about that." She cast her eyes down and mentally cringed. "If it's a long leave then I understand." HA! Kurenia making people cry is kinda funny XD
"Is there a problem? I'll be gone for only a week. And yes, I do expect that my students learn something while I'm gone."
She sighed, sympathizing with her. She, too, had panicked the first time that she was told that she had to teach a class for a whole month.
"It shouldn't be too difficult, really. If you did so well in your chemistry class, then a review of my lesson plans is all you need in order to teach my class."
Smiling, she added, "I promise."
Ahaha, I'd imagine her being really rigid and uptight. xD
