Phone Conversation - Maya

May 19, 2007 05:24

Who: Maya Kitajima and Kurama (Still as Shishi)
Where: Phone
When: Friday evening
Summary: Maya desired to speak with him again.

Maya had recovered her memories even if he had used the Fantasy flower to erase them. He was certain the effect would be permanent, yet he had not counted with the girl recovering her spiritual energy. It was not something that happened often, furthermore, it was not even supposed to happen. But the unusual presence of Yomi and his allies in the human world, plus the events in the Mushiyori city did grant Maya her powers. Kurama sighed once more, and picked the phone, even in the body of Shishiwakamaru, his voice would not be that different, after all, he was supposed to be -ill-. He stood before the phone ontop a small table and picked the tube dialing Maya's number.

The female was sitting at home, writing in her journal when her phone rang. First it vibrated on the top of her desk, then as she scrambled to reach it, the theme song for Sailor Moon began to play. She gave a call of surprise as she picked up the phone, and completely fell out of her chair. Her legs hanging unto the chair and her back on the floor, she released a faint groan. Brown bangs falling into honey brown eyes, as she answered the phone. "Hello, Kitajima Maya speaking.." She said in a slightly pain filled tone.

"Greetings, Kitajima-san, it is me, Minamino Shuuichi," he mused softly casting his gaze downward. So Shishiwakamaru had already talked with Maya, he could understand why the girl would be perplexed and disturbed, perhaps astonished and bothered by his behavior. He hoped this illness excuse would be enough, since without his plants there was little he could do to actually emulate a malady. If only this curse had happened in another moment... though Kurama was aware it was in vane to regret such things.

Maya felt all the blood drain from her face as she bolted up, and only managed to clip her head on the edge of her desk. "OW" She practically yelped into the phone. She cradled it against her head as she rolled to the side and hissed faintly in pain. "Oowww..." She stated as she rubbed the top of her head. "Sorry.. Shuichi-san.." She said as she continued to rub her head. "You surprised me... and I hit my head on my desk.." She said with a nervous laugh.

A mild smile tugged at the corner of his lips, but guilty silence overcame him. "You have not changed, Maya-san. It gladdens me to hear from you once more." Maya had always had a clumsy nature, but he would not blame her, there were some characteristics bound to each one's personality.

Maya smiled slightly as she listened to him, though he was sick, she could feel his true spirit shining through the voice. "Heh, I suppose I haven’t.." She said as she smiled into the phone. She felt her heart lift up a bit as she gave a small laugh, "its so wonderful to speak to you again, how are you feeling?" She whispered lightly.

"I can tell I am feeling good enough to hold a coherent conversation," he replied as if teasing. Though he truly longed to hear her words regarding the recovery of her memory, it would be difficult yet he had already thought of the possible results.

Maya bit her lip lightly, "its good you are feeling well enough for that, because I most dearly need to speak to you." She stated as she closed her eyes slowly. "Why Shuichi, well wait.. I think I know why.. that’s a stupid question.. can we talk about it at least?" She said lightly as she shifted and sat on her bed. Pulling her knees up to her chest she rested her chin on her knee.

Kurama's eyes closed hearing her question, perhaps it was better if he could not see her, yet he could imagine her actions clearly in his mind. Probably she was sitting against the wall, curled up in her own confusion. "Perhaps you will not understand... but I did it for your own safety... " he started, his voice was soft and serene, though there was a hint of guilt deep within.

Maya felt the tears come as she heard his voice. "I .. understand slightly, but I loved... love you Shuichi, even though I haven't seen you in a really long time, but I know that still stands. I would have understood, if you had just asked me, I probably would have willingly LET you erase them.." She stated in a soft voice. She was doing well at hiding the tears in her voice. They where all but impossible to hear.

His eyes widened softly at her words, making him feel ever more guilty. But he knew it had been the best even if now she would have accepted it, she was far younger before.. "I would have never imagined you would accept such things, I admit being cruel... but I saw no other option.
..Sometimes the best is not what we would like the most, Maya-san."

Maya sighed gently at this, as she gave a gentle smile to herself. Letting the tears stay in her eyes, and not fall. "Well I suppose you are right, its just such a bad thing to me. I have nightmares now, but now that I look back on it. Back then I didn't have the maturity needed to handle such nightmares that I have now.." She whispered into the phone as she cradled the phone to her head.

He considered perhaps it was the best to erase her memories once more, but he decided against it. Who was he to choose upon someone's past? Specially when that person was conscious of what would happen. "You dream.. with Yatsude?" his voice inquired lowly.

Maya bit her lip lightly and sighed softly. "Yes.. I dream of when he kidnapped me.. and the events that happened before that. The creature you destroyed, and that demon that approached you.." She said softly. Her eyes closing gently as she held the phone closer to her ear..

"..Maya-san are you ..certain you desire to continue throughout such? ...You could have a normal life, like the one you had before meeting me, and after the event. I do not wish to endanger the life of innocent people." He replied in a calm voice, once more finding each word difficult, delicately choosing each phrase.

Maya felt anger flare deep within her , but she slowly calmed it. "Shuichi-san, I wouldn't want my memories changed for the world. I have them now, and I have my powers now as well. I want to help.. I want to make a difference, and I want to be able to help you. This time I don't want to sit back while the world is in danger. That’s what is happening, isn't it.." She stated in a low voice.

His gaze remained locked in the wall before him as he listened to Maya's words. There was something in her voice, perhaps frustration, he would understand her. "These apparitions are... far dangerous than the one we met in the past. Our new foes... could slay me easily."

Maya closed her eyes slowly, then shifted and got up. "Shuichi-san, since we are speaking on apparitions, and strange feelings.. as soon as school 'lets out' mom and dad are taking me to the Shirayama Hime Shrine..." She whispered into the phone. She shivered at the mere thought of it. She didn't feel, comfortable going there, the feeling she got from that. "I have a strange feeling whenever I think of it.." She whispered as she rubbed her hand along her arm.

His purple eyes narrowed softly, what could be the meaning? There could exist a myriad of reasons, but he was not certain of the extent of Maya's psychic powers. She could foresee the future? Or perhaps sense an omen. It could be very possible she could see the shadows of a tragedy covering the victims before it happened. "I would like to know.. if you are aware how your powers have developed since we first met."

Maya bit her lip faintly, as she closed her eyes. "Well sometimes.. I can see if people will die.. it will be like a skull over their face, the clearer the skull the closer they are to death... Sometimes.. I have strange dreams.. that.. come true.. sometimes.. and just generally I get feelings..." She murmured lightly as she tried to think of more. Was there anymore? Well there was, sorta. "And sometimes, when I am REALLY mad... I mean really really mad.. things.. kinda.. fly.. without.. me touching them.. I mean.."

Basic psychic and telekinetic powers... He leaned against the wall and shifted his eyes to the window and the evening outside, how the fiery orange crept through the sky. "You believe ..something will happen to your parents..? ...Or perhaps.. some ominous event will take place at the Shirayama Hime Shrine?"

Maya closed her eyes a minute, and then a sigh released itself from her throat. "I wanna try something, though I don't know if it will work.. but sometimes.. people can force.. their powers to work.. maybe.. I could.. see... why.. That temple makes me feel such a bad feeling?" She said as she tilted her head lightly. Her eyes looked towards the other wall.

"Which is your idea?" Kurama asked, though he only desired to know she would not attempt anything that could put her life in jeopardy.

Maya closed her eyes, "I wanna try.. maybe.. I can get something?" She stated as she closed her eyes slowly. She would start when Shuichi-san wanted to know. She wouldn't do it before then.." I will leave my mind open, so anything that wants to show itself.. can.. in the vision?" She said lightly...

He remained silent for some seconds, it was clear her psychic power was more developed than what he had imagined it to be. Indeed the girl could summon her own visions seemingly at will. "Be careful... though I would like to be present... because some visions can truly put your life in risk if they become too real. However, due to my current health condition I will not be able to..."

Maya nodded lightly into the phone, "I understand Shuichi, but this is how it must be. I will put you on speaker phone alright?" She whispered lightly. She set the phone on the end table next to her bed, and then closed her eyes. "I am going to start.." She whispered. She clenched her eyes shut and started to concentrate, the pain started behind her eyes like it always did, as rapidly images flashed through her mind. Only a few snippets actually where caught by her mind then. Iceland, Ireland, India, and Mount Hakusan.. something major was to happen there. She could see clouds of immense power around these areas. A cry leapt form her throat as she felt a demonic presence enter those pictures, and then she saw a bold statement from a castle in her mind.. then everything went blank.

"..It is dangerous!" he warned the girl, though he knew his words had fallen upon deaf ears. Maya was determined and she was not someone who would back down in her wishes, curiously like Yuusuke. A few seconds later a piercing scream filled his ears, both of his eyes widened knowing he could do nothing...or even he would go to help her and then pay for the consequences of someone realizing his soul had been switched, which would imply living as Shishiwakamaru forever. "Maya!"

Maya felt the world fog a bit as the presences fell around her. Not around her, but more like her mind... She heard a voice through it all and pulled through it. She grabbed up the phone and pressed it to her ear. Her head was splitting with a headache..She shook a little as she licked her lips and gathered her words. "Something.. very.. very.. bad.. Shuichi" She croaked out faintly. She shook a little more as the castle came back into her mind, then the other places... "The Northernmost city ..snow...
And a vault.. a temple Ayodya, warm weather... then a castle in the British islands in a town called Birr... and Mount Hakusan.. I got flashes of all of those.." She whispered.

It was relieving to hear her voice once more, to know she was still alive. "Maya... how are you feeling?" He would have asked her to retell what she had seen with more detail, but he already had a vague yet decent outline of her vision. What sort of evils..? That could result powerful enough to cause a shock in the clairvoyant.

Maya sighed into the phone and rubbed at her temple. "I am.. feeling horrible.." She whispered as she opened her bed side drawer and pulled out a couple of aspirin from a bottle. "Shuichi, we must talk tomorrow.. I need rest... and sleep... I can tell you more then.." She murmured as she rubbed at her temple.

"..I cannot.." he admitted through soft tone, yet slightly tinged with regret. He would only reveal the secret if her life was in danger.. but if not he simply could not risk to lose his body and everything that implied. Not only for him but also for the foul tempered youkai who currently was in his respective place. "I sincerely wish I could."

"Then call me tomorrow.." She said as she took the pills and pulled the bottle of water from her bag, and washed them down. Her eyes closed, the pain hidden now as she took a long breath. "I wish you sweet dreams Shuichi-san... remember.. that someone does love you..." She stated as she pulled the phone away from her head, her finger poised over the button. She was contemplating.. hanging up now...

"I will call you tomorrow,... good night." He replied closing his eyes. His thumb hovered over the button as if he was waiting the girl for say something else but he decided against it, hanging up.
It was too soon to act, he needed to understand the situation better and analyze if the risks were worthy or if it would be a senseless daring behavior.
