☆ I've been spending more time reading than usual. Borrowed way more things from the library than I usually would, completely unintentionally, so I've been using a lot of extra time to do that. It's a nice problem to have, honestly. Tea + books = <3

☆ Since I didn't get around to writing a proper Reading Wednesday entry, I'll just drop a rec here for Thomas King's The Back of the Turtle. I loved one of his previous novels, Green Grass, Running Water, and I love this one too. The Back of the Turtle is set in British Columbia, in a small coastal community recovering from an environmental disaster. It's about a lot of things, but if I had to sum it up, I'd say it's about revitalization, and finding - and rebuilding - connections even when it seems like it's all over. It's about the relationships have with each other, and with the land too. Thomas King's works tend to have a certain sort of wit, and occasionally biting humour, and that was here too. Anyway, read this if you like good writing and interpersonal relationships. (Or read Green Grass, Running Water, or King's short story collection, One Good Story, That One... I love both of those, can't recommend them enough.)

☆ I need to go in to get my eyes checked tomorrow. Not entirely looking forward to it, but it's been years since I last had it done, so. And... I've actually been really concerned about my eyesight lately - I'm not sure, but I think something has changed - so, uh. I need to get that looked at. I mean, I'm 30 years old, and I stare at screens for 12 hours per day. It would be utterly unsurprising if I end up needing specs.

☆ State of the Chocobox: Assignment is done. Other stuff is also done. It all needs some final revs, of course, but that can wait until the weekend. I'm pretty satisfied. :)
