☆ My parents bought a new computer today. It has Windows 10 on it. I foresee myself wrestling with this thing in the future. Blech. Setting it up for them was not too bad, because they barely use any programs, but the thought of trying to set it up for myself is... no thank you. Which just means that I need to take care of my dear current laptop for as long as I can. It's a heavy old workhorse, and it doesn't run the way it used to, but it works.
☆ ... Um. Speaking of laptops, does anyone have experience with hooking one up to a monitor? TL;DR my parents' old laptop still boots, but the screen does not work, and I need to hook it up to SOMETHING in order to get their files off of it. I'm taking it in to work tomorrow to see if I can hook it up to a monitor there. CRISIS AVERTED, I managed to get it working long enough to get their shit off there and transferred to the new computer. Jesus Christ, what a drama.
☆I've been feeling very BLAH for the last week, and maybe a little longer, so I've been kind of noncommunicative, and I'm sorry. I think it might be the time of year? I just want to hibernate, man. Why can't I be a bear?
☆ SSSS fandom has been collectively flipping its lid all weekend because the books were finally up for sale on Hivemill. People have been anticipating this for... weeks. (There are a few left, but they'll probably be gone soon
*.) Even though I have my own copy, I've ordered an unsigned copy in order to do a giveaway in the new year for people who could not afford to buy it. I'm really excited about that, though part of me kind of regrets it, because OUCH, the USD-CAD exchange rate is super bad right now. But hopefully it'll be able to make somebody really happy. (Not going to count my chickens until I receive it, though.)
☆ And... the last remaining A Redtail's Dream books were up too. Unfortunately, they went up WHILE I WAS ASLEEP, and I completely missed them. I keep wondering whether I would have had a chance if it'd been a weekday. I wake up at 5 on weekdays. But, ah, well. We'll never know. It just really grates my cheese, because very early Saturday morning, I had a PROPHETIC DREAM in which the books were up, and I ended up waking up at 5 AM and rushing to my computer - all for nothing. Guess I should have woke up super early today, too, just to be sure. ;p ALAS. Oh, well. Chances of a second printing for aRTD are low. But, I guess I can hold out hope.
