It's so good to be here.

Oh man. Today was awesome. I'd missed Halifax, but I guess I didn't really realize how much I miss it until I came back. I've only been here for a day (not even a day) but I'm so happy. I'm so at-ease, and so relaxed, and everything is just wonderful. Though I will not lie, I could have done without the flight. Left the house at 6:30 AM and didn't get to Halifax until midnight. Yuck.

Most of my day was spent doing a shitload of shopping, but that's fine. When I go to places like this, it makes me realize just how "middle of nowhere" my hometown is. Blech. But anyway, here I am not, having coffee in my favourite cafe. The atmosphere is lovely, relaxed, and somehow it isn't stifling the way everything back home is.

Though I will not lie, it certainly helps that I am on my own schedule. I could stay here until closing if I wanted to, and nobody would nag me about it. It's wonderful.

Tomorrow is going to be kind of a clusterfuck, because I need to leave the hotel super early in order to be on time for the bus to Wolfville. I'll be sitting in on my favourite professor's class (if I can make it), wander around a little, take some photos; then lunch with said prof, and after that a bit more relaxing and walking and photo-taking, and then as soon as I head back to Halifax I need to get ready to go see Symphony Nova Scotia in concert. Kind of concerned about getting to and from the Dal arts centre - it's a little far to walk; guess I'll have to take a cab - but whatever, it'll be fine.

Gods, I wish I had decided to book more time. I already know that the time I will have here is going to be too short. Leaving on Wednesday morning? Far too short. But I'll make the most of it.

It's kind of funny, though. Sometimes people ask why I'm here. When I say I'm on vacation, they give me this "Are you out of your mind?" look. Pfft. Sure, Halifax isn't as nice in November as it is in spring, but it's still lovely. It's nice and warm (compared to home), there's no snow at all, everyone is really friendly, and the atmosphere is amazing. Maybe I should say that I'm here to do research for writing, though, just to keep away the "wtf, are you crazy?" looks. Because I do intend to start working on that original story while I'm here, and it will be set in Halifax. Well, who knows.

That's enough for now. I have writing to do.
