“I-I’m going to America.” Yamada closed her eyes as she bowed her head down while saying it and gripped Yuto’s hands with her own shaking hands. Yuto didn’t say a word, still shocked from what Yamada said. A tear fell from Yamada’s eyes and directly hit towards Yuto’s hands.
“when?” the only word uttered by Yuto suppressing the tears to fall that’s forming in his eyes.
“next week.” Yuto moved away, took his hands from Yamada and lifted her face. he wiped her tears and hugged her.
Yuto knows that Yamada doesn’t want to go, he knows she did her best not to go and he himself doesn’t want her to go. But as what Yamada told him before, she can’t easily disobey her father’s decision. So, Yuto understand everything perfectly and that is the one thing why Yamada really likes Yuto. After a few seconds, Yuto broke the hug then the door of the fairish wheel opened and they stepped out of it. the last place they went to is a small park. There, they started to savor each second they have since they only have a week together. they talked nonsense stuffs and random stuffs, laugh together and giggle together. When it’s getting darker, Yuto told her that they need to go home already and he sent her home. When they arrived in front of Yamada’s house, Yuto bid goodbye and a tear dropped from Yamada’s eyes when the latter kissed her forehead. He then released Yamada and started to walk away, backwards since he’s still waving goodbye to her. when he turned in the corner and Yamada can’t no longer see him, Yamada cried since he’s going to start counting hoe many hours left is there to be with Yuto.
Yuto turned to the corner and halted. there, he let the tears that he suppressed since the time Yamada told her she’s going to America. He doesn’t want her to go. Not now, that she found his precious Yama-chan. now that she found her, she’s going away again and he don’t want that to happen. But what is his power over her father? He knew he’s being a coward and he hates himself for being like that. He started to walk again but not towards his house but to Ryutaro’s house.
Ryutaro received a call from Yuto saying he’s outside his house. Ryu asked him why not bother to ring the doorbell but he heard a sniff in the other line and he hurriedly ran down to open the door and surprised to see the crying Yuto. “RYUUUUU!” Yuto cried running towards him but Ryutaro ran away from him because he knows he won’t be able to breathe if Yuto is going to hug him in a very childish way. Unfortunately, he got caught. Ryutaro wonders how did Yuto managed to act cool and all when the truth is, he’s surprisingly childish. But Chinen is much more childish.
“Okay, calm down Yuto and tell me everything and don’t keep running around the bush.” Ryutaro told him while dragging the crying Yuto towards his room.
“Yama-chan…” Yuto said then sniffed.
“what’s wrong with Yama-chan?” Ryutaro asked as he opened the door in his room.
“She’s going to America.” The door closed and the room was filled with silence.
“so, she told you already?” with that question from Ryutaro, Yuto sat at Ryutaro’s couch and looked at him with a confused face then Ryutaro continued. “well, I knew that Yama-chan is going to America but I don’t know when. Chii told me last time that’s why I knew. I want to tell you actually, but Chii told me that its Yama-chan’s right to tell you not me. And so, I didn’t tell you.” Ryutaro sat in the other couch.
“She’s going next week.” Yuto said in a low voice and that made Ryutaro exclaimed, “WHAT?!”
“Next week, she’ll leave for America.” Silence filled the room then Yuto continued to sob. Ryutaro patted his shoulder then Yuto told him, “I thought we’ll be re-united again. but on the time that I found her, tha I can be with her again, she’ll leave again. why is fate so cruel on us.”
“Yuto, I know that you know that Yama-chan really didn’t want to leave right? After 10 years of not seeing each other, you saw her again and even going in the same school. you’re meant to be together so cheer up, khey?” Oh God, I’m being cheesy. Ryutaro thought being kinda disgusted of what he said. Ryutaro heard the sobs faded and he looked at Yuto only to find him sleeping already. Ryutaro sighed and took some blankets for Yuto.

They only have a week left to be together and Yuto and Yamada made sure they’ll cherish every minute they’re together. There are days where Chinen and Ryutaro will hang-out together with them, of course, to spend time with their best friend. For 3 days, they went shopping, play in the arcade, watch some movies, go to Yamada’s favorite cake shop, play at Ryutaro’s room, go to the amusement park, and go to the underground aquarium. And of course, taking of pictures is not forgotten. The remaining 3 days, Yamada spend it with Yuto alone. They’ll go to their unplanned dates, and they even spotted keiko and Hikaru having a date. Yuto will take her to the bar and teach her on playing the drums. They really did cherish every minute they’re together. And on the last day of Yamada’s stay in Japan, she slept at Yuto’s home.
“Yuto-kun…” Yamada mumbled while covering his face with the blankets. she’s sleeping on Yuto’s bed while Yuto is sleeping in a futon.
“hmmm?”
“are you okay there? Isn’t it cold?” she asked worriedly.
“No, I’m used to it already. I sleep on my futon when I was in Aomori.” Yuto replied back.
“Yuto-kun…”
“yes?”
“Anou, I… You…” Yamada didn’t know how to say it.
“What is it Yama-chan?” Yuto got up and sat on the futon and looked at Yamada.
“W-well, i.. I mean… Can you… can you s-sleep b-beside me?” Yamada stuttered and her face under the covers is already red as a tomato. It’s the first time she asked a guy to sleep beside her. she didn’t know what reactions is Yuto making since she’s to shy to face him. she flinched when she felt a weight on the other side of the bed then she clearly knows, Yuto is already there.

Yuto smiled in his girlfriend’s request. Maa~ it’s okay to sleep beside her as long as you won’t do anything, right? So Yuto got up from the futon and went to his bed. When he lay down, he saw Yamada flinched under the covers and a smile formed on his lips again. he went under the covers too and wrapped his arms around Yamada’s waist who’s back is facing him, then he felt the other flinched again. Yamada took the blanket off from them and she turned around to see Yuto.
Yuto is smiling at her really dearly and she can’t help but smile too. Both of them are too sad since Yamada is going to leave on the next day but it’s not the time to shed tears. She snuggled closer to Yuto and she can feel Yuto’s heart racing with the same beat as her. she giggled when Yuto nuzzled her hair.
“Sleep now. You still need to be early tomorrow.” Yuto told her and Yamada just nodded.
“You smell nice. Strawberries.” Yamada giggled smelling the scent of her boyfriend and looked up when he heard the latter sighed.
“May I ask who hid my soap and shampoo then replaced with strawberry scented shampoo and soap and now I smell like a strawberry?” Yuto asked her raising an eyebrow at her. Yamada just giggled more and out of the topic said, “you still love me.”
Yuto just laughed and agreed to what Yamada said. “You’re right. I still love you even though you did that.”
“I love you too.” Yamada smiled at him and that made Yuto thought about something.
“Ah! Before you go tomorrow, I need to give something to you.” Yuto released the hug and went to his study table. Yamada sat on the bed and looked confusingly at Yuto. The latter pulled the drawer of his study table and took the over familiar notebook and an over familiar necklace that made Yamada’s eyes widen. “maybe, it’s best if I give this back to you.” Yuto said while approaching Yamada then sat on the bed.
“Y-Y-You… w-why did you h-have t-this? D-did you read it?” Yamada said stutteringly then took the notebook from Yuto.
“Well, you left it at the rooftop last time. i just want to know the contents because of my curiousness. but-“ Yuto can’t continue with what he’s trying to say when Yamada covers herself with the blankets shouting, “NOOOOO!!!!!!!”
Yuto hugged Yamada even though she’s still covered with the blankets and said, “I miss you, Yama-chan and I’m sorry if I broke the promise. I really didn’t intend to took the necklace out of the treasure box but I thought it would be my lucky charm that I will see you here in Tokyo and it really did became one. I found you and I even became your boyfriend now and I’m really happy about it. And I’m sorry about your mother. And all of those mischievousness you did to me it doesn’t really matter. And yeah, you did sleep talk saying you like me while we’re going home from the camp. and you did a lot of confessions in your notebook and actually I found your glares too cute.” Yuto kept talking and talking without even knowing that the other person is already blushing madly while crying in silence. “I know we can’t forget about the past especially those memories that we really treasured and those bad memories that we had but sometimes we can just put it aside especially the bad memories and focus on the present and plan for the future. Even though we’ll be separated again, I know there’s still this invisible string tied on us that can’t easily be cut or broken. And my plan for the future has you on it.” Yuto shove the covers away revealing the crying-plus-blushing Yamada. He hugged her tightly but pulled her away a little just to press his forehead against hers and said, “I know we’re still young but I promise you. Past, present and even in the future, my heart belongs ONLY and ONLY to you, Yama-chan.”
The crying Yamada nodded and the only thing she replied after the long message of Yuto (but Yuto felt content already) is, “I can put aside those memories for a while. And I actually don’t intend to reveal it to you even if you didn’t remember me or you didn’t read my notebook because I have you and that’s okay already. Past, present and future, my heart also belongs ONLY and ONLY to Yuto-kun. and for the necklace… just keep it for a while.” Yuto gave her a quick kiss then wiper her tears. “Now sleep, or else you’ll be late for tomorrow’s flight. Yamada obeyed then lay down on Yuto’s bed and sleep while listening to Yuto’s lullaby.
Morning came and Yamada found herself sleeping in Yuto’s embrace. She smiled when she saw the latter slowly opening his eyes then she greeted him good morning. Yuto gave her a kiss on the forehead and greeted back. Yuto sat on the bed and pats Yamada’s head and told her it’s time to get ready already. Yamada obeyed and went directly to the bathroom to take a bath. Yuto on the other hand checked the dining room to see if breakfast is ready. He really asked his maids to prepare a strawberry-ish breakfast and so they did, they put pancakes with strawberry syrup, strawberry juice, strawberry yogurt and fresh strawberries in the table. Yuto hurriedly went to the guest’s room to borrow the bathroom for a while and took a bath. Well, of course, Yuto finished preparing first even though Yamada went to the bathroom first. Simply because he didn’t need to do a lot of thing to himself not like Yamada that he found while entering his room, currently curling her hair with a curling iron that she surprisingly stuffed in her bag. Yuto waited for her to finish on what she was doing while having an exchange talk with her. after doing her hair, Yuto and Yamada went to the dining room. Yamada’s eyes sparkled when she saw the food in the table. Its strawberry paradise as what she said. She happily ate her breakfast and Yuto amusingly watching Yamada eating her breakfast.
Inoo and Yabu arrived in Yuto’s home to pick them up right after they finished eating their breakfast. They put Yamada’s luggage at the car’s trunk that I forgot to explain earlier that she brought her luggage at Yuto’s house . as everything is settled down, they went to the airport and traveled for about 30 minutes. Upon arriving at the airport, on the time when Yamada stepped out of the car, a crying Chinen being comforted by Ryutaro greeted them. Yamada hurriedly hugged her best friend and told her to stop crying but she’s actually crying too. Chinen released the hugged and hold Yamada’s hands as when they really entered the airport. Yabu and Inoo took care of things that are needed to do before boarding the plane leaving the 4 kids alone. Apparently, Yabu and Inoo are going to America too. Yabu thinks he needs to be in America with Yamada, just cousin instincts while Inoo stubbornly wants to go with yabu. I think its girlfriend’s instincts?
After settling everything, Yabu and inoo went back to them and Yamada’s flight was announced. Yamada stood up from her seat and bade goodbye to her friends. First is Chinen, she hugged her and Chinen won’t stop crying but Yamada told her not to cry because she wants to see Chinen’s smile and the latter did stop crying. Next is Ryutaro, he hugged her other best friend too and told him to take good care of Chinen. Also, he needs to watch Yuto too and Ryutaro just nodded. Lastly is Yuto, the lanky boy who did his best not to cry but end up crying anyway. “y-Yuto-kun.”
Yuto hugged her not wanting to let go. “Take care of yourself there, ne, Yama-chan.” Yamada nodded and Yuto’s tears started to roll down and he can feel the latter crying too. He broke away the hug and wiped Yamada’s tears, looked at her and smiled, “I promise you, khey? Past, present and future, it will always be you, Yama-chan.”
“I promise too, Yuto… past present and future it will always be you.” Yamada looked back at him and smiled too. As they made their promises, it seems like the time stopped and the world is only theirs with big ants surrounding them because of the sweetness they emitted. But the kill-joy announcer killed the ants as she announced Yamada’s flight again. and once they heard it, they broke the hug and Yamada went beside Inoo and Yabu but before that, she gave a peck on Yuto’s cheek.
“Jaa~ we’re going now.” Yabu smiled at them.
“Inoo-sensei, yabu-sensei, take care ne!!!” the 3 students told them with a bonus, “don’t forget to buy something for us!”
“Yama-chan! bye-bye!” they waved goodbye to them and they did the same.
As Yamada is entering the passenger’s way already, she looked back once again to Yuto the Chiitaro pair suddenly disappeared and she saw him smiling at her. she wiped her tears that started to fall when Yuto mouthed,
“aishiteru”.
“aishiteru…” she replied back and went inside.
And the last thing she saw is Yuto’s dearly, smiling face.

Next is Ryutaro, he hugged her other best friend too and told him to take good care of Chinen. Also, he needs to watch Yuto too and Ryutaro just nodded. Lastly is Yuto, the lanky boy who did his best not to cry but end up crying anyway. “y-Yuto-kun.”
Yuto hugged her not wanting to let go. “Take care of yourself there, ne, Yama-chan.” Yamada nodded and Yuto’s tears started to roll down and he can feel the latter crying too. He broke away the hug and wiped Yamada’s tears, looked at her and smiled, “I promise you, khey? Past, present and future, it will always be you, Yama-chan.”
“I promise too, Yuto… past present and future it will always be you.” Yamada looked back at him and smiled too. As they made their promises, it seems like the time stopped and the world is only theirs with big ants surrounding them because of the sweetness they emitted. But the kill-joy announcer killed the ants as she announced Yamada’s flight again. and once they heard it, they broke the hug and Yamada went beside Inoo and Yabu but before that, she gave a peck on Yuto’s cheek.
“Jaa~ we’re going now.” Yabu smiled at them.
“Inoo-sensei, yabu-sensei, take care ne!!!” the 3 students told them with a bonus, “don’t forget to buy something for us!”
“Yama-chan! bye-bye!” they waved goodbye to them and they did the same.
As Yamada is entering the passenger’s way already, she looked back once again to Yuto the Chiitaro pair suddenly disappeared and she saw him smiling at her. she wiped her tears that started to fall when Yuto mouthed,
“aishiteru”.
“aishiteru…” she replied back and went inside.
And the last thing she saw is Yuto’s dearly, smiling face.
