Рекламы многовато в книге, это да.

По весам он говорит что он изначально более мускулистый чем многие бегуны, даже больше чем надо. И скорее всего по этому ему работа с весами не нужна.

WHEN I was in college, I did what a lot of us who are active have done at some point-I got caught up in how much weight I could lift in the gym. On the bench press, once I could lift more than my body weight, I kept trying to increase the number of reps I could do at that weight.
Eventually I had the insight that this wasn’t the best use of my time. I was training to win NCAA championships, not to be a weight lifter. I realized I needed to strengthen my muscles, joints, ligaments, and tendons so I wouldn’t get injured. Not only was the heavy lifting at the gym failing to really help with that, but it was also packing on upper-body muscle that I didn’t need to run a good 10-K on the track. (When I do heavy lifting, I put on muscle easily. Even today, if you look at me on the start line, I have broader shoulders and a bigger chest than my fellow world-class marathoners.)
