Synopsis: And he wonders, he wonders if anyone is capable of catching a star…
Lanterns were hung nonchalantly across the ceiling, as the moonlight was jerked downward, forced to follow shallow breaths of the fleeting night
A soft veil of shadow began to spread itself all over the place, leaving on only the dusky stars - which not even bothered to shake off those blurry clouds that seemed to cover half of the sky; all light flickered out, day turned away on its heels, finally retreated and let everything fall back into the dark, wrapping the sleeping forms in a cold night breeze
So Manabu has always wondered how come and why a star--his star, however, still managed to shine so bright through murky haze. It was sparkling, glittering, so close, as if you could have it in one grasp-yet so far away. So far away that when he tried, tried to reach out and catch, all he got was a handful of silvery dust, slipping through his fingers in a blink; or sometimes, just a fist of hollow air
And he wonders, he wonders if anyone is capable of catching a star…

Byou mumbled something before the band actually started out their practice. Rui grunted distastefully when the door opened and their lead guitarist-with unstyled messy hair, clearly unwashed face and looked like he would fall asleep anytime soon-walked in. Jin’s tiny figure went completely unseen behind the drumset, but a murmur that sounded very much like “there he goes again” still could be heard. Manabu looked up from his amplifier, turned toward the one who supposedly was their bandleader, chuckled lowly because, if anything, Kazuki is still fully dressed in most stylish clothes under worst circumstances.
“You’re late!” Rui sighed as he walked back to his bass “And y’know what? Dude get a mirror, you look like shit!”
“Nice ass by the way” Byou blurted out bluntly, eyes wandering across the guitarist’s tight jeans. He immediately received a disapproving glare from the bassist
“Not a fashion show, Chawan!” As Byou just shrugged, Rui pushed the red-haired guitarist to the door “And you. You should go wash your face. I highly doubt you can even pick up the guitar properly without slipping once or twice with that, not to mention touching the strings”
Kazuki just nodded, throwing an apologetical glance to the whole band over his shoulder and walked through the doorframe
Not the hyper-talkative-screamo Kazuki when he is sleepy huh? Manabu thought to himself and giggled. How cute. Clearly not a morning person. Although seeing his just-waken-up face with hair like nest when they shared a hotel room was much more amusing
“Here, take it!” A warmth suddenly pressed against his cheeks made Kazuki almost jumped out of his chair. When he confirmed it wasn’t some random people (or maybe fangirls) interrupting his break, it was instead his fellow guitar, with a cheeky grin on his face-looked innocent nonetheless, he took the coffe from Manabu’s hands, then watched the shortie settled down on the seat in front of him
“Thank you!” He smiled, sipping the hot liquid down his throat and let out a satisfied sigh
“Got a hang over last night or what? You looked like you didn’t have much sleep”
“Not really, I was working on some stuffs, had a few drink then fell asleep on the couch at which I remembered to be four in the morning”
“And people look like someone just made them swallow a sock when they sleep less than 3 hours a day. Congratulation, you are not one of them”
“I think I just heard someone say I looked like shit”
“Believe me, you look brilliant. Rui was just upset because he had to leave his cutie lovely-hungry cat at home and rushed here, just to find out none of us had arrived yet. Poor little thing”
Kazuki’s lips curved into a smile. Sweet, Manabu is always way too sweet.. He cackled at the scene of Rui stamping his feet on the floor, whimpering about having to go home to his Maru or they will have to let him bring the cat to their practice room
“All joking aside, sometimes you are too much like a star” Manabu leaned forward, brushing the tip of his fingers on Kazuki’s cheek “Too ethereal..too unreal, I have to make sure you’re true, and this is not a dream…”
“What’s with that cheesy morning romance?” Kazuki laughed softly, reached up to catch Manabu’s fingers, intertwined them with his own; sliding their palms together
“Really, you’re beautiful, I adore you”
“Said the boy who has absolutely no ideas how he turns my world upside down” Kazuki raised an eyebrow as Manabu entangled his grisp, stood up and walked over to his seat
He rested his head against Kazuki’s shoulders, inhaled then exhaled deeply, trying to blink away the ridiculous tears that started to gather at the corner of his eyes
“I won’t lose you, right?”
“What?”
“You are not drifting away from me, are you? Because the brightest star was meant to be alone, and never stood still”
“How many times do I have to tell you I’m not a star, let alone the brightest star, silly! And even if I were, I ain’t going nowhere, I ain’t leaving you..” Kazuki brought his hands up and began to comb gently through the soft raven strands of the younger’s hair. Manabu leaned in to the comfy touch and closed his eyes, not long before they were snapped open as Rui’s voice filled the room
“Stop snuggling and get back to practice already. Geez, you guys are hurting my eyes!!”
“Think our eyes aren’t hurt as we watched you and your pervert lover wiggling and flirting around with each other?” Kazuki gave Manabu’s hair a final stroke, before gently pushing him back up, both walking to pick up their own guitars
“WUT? Byou is not a pe-wait when did we ever-“ His sentences were cut short as Byou walked in, lazily scratching his head and grinning at Rui’s blushing cheeks and the two guitarists indifferently checking on their precious intrusments
“What did I miss?”
“Everything” A simple answer came short from behind the drumset, making them four almost jump on their feet
“Fuck, Jin! You just freaked the hell out of me! Been there all this time and mind not telling?” Rui’s neck crane upwards, as if he could see the tiny figure that way, light-brown hair popped up on his gaze
“Yeah, been here and too caught up in you guys’ fucking romance novel-makes me wonder why don’t you just quit this band and take on acting in bloody a drama instead!” Jin tried to sound angry but he ended up cracking into laughter as he saw the worried looks scattering on his bandmates’ faces “Just kidding. Now where were we from last time?”
The members settled in their places, began arranging the intrusments, meanwhile Byou thrummed on his mic and warmed up his vocal cords. Kazuki casually glanced over at Manabu, his hands raising up forming a heart, his lips motioning something that very much looked like a soundless whisper..
“I..” - Jin started to drum, Rui caught up to the beats, making the room vibrate slightly under the soft noise - “love..” - Byou’s voice pierced through the air, clenched up tight anyone’s hearts as the heartbreaking melody of “Ancient Rain” rang on - “..you” - Kazuki smiled sheepishly and turned back his attention to the guitar in his hands, fingers moving perfectly to the notes
Manabu blushed, quickly pressed against the strings, blending, falling, completely losing himself in the music; the sky he looked up to the other night flashed past his mind in a blurred vision, dappled with tiny distant flecks he doesn't need anymore
Because suddenly, the realization hit him hard he couldn't understand how he didn't notice it before
h e already has his star

Comment: Ahaha the tittle is nothing really, just because Sirius, according to my mother, is the brightest star in the nightsky, and personally i like the name Sirius as well XD Got inspired to write this because of that, and because Kazuki seems to be kinda acting like a star lately, must be because he always goes out drinking with our tasu-pasu Aoi ~
