Here comes another brilliant observation by yours truly.
Which, of course means that I've independently come to the same realization as millions of people before me--none of whom, I swear, were consulted in the course of writing this brief note. So, you'll only have me to blame for any inaccuracies that may mislead, distract, or otherwise diminish your cosmic Feng S.
Days are getting longer.
Duh, right?
Well, days are getting longer FASTER than they were a few days ago!! Now THAT is some crazy news. I should know.
Before I get to carried away here, I should tell you, that following this observation there's going to be a poem. This is a metamorphic poem I created between 2/11 and 2/15 that got better due to its proximity to certain events and owes its metamorphic structure to the tension in my own mind, but all of that isn't important. It's related to the event here, and THAT'S what's important. And, should you be particularly adept, you will create the same (or similar) connections, between these two seemingly unrelated items and thereby understand me the more deeply. If you don't, however, trace the same neural and near-mystical pathways which is clearly the most statistically probably course, you will - instead - be gazing into a particularly intriguing mirror. Don't be alarmed by this experience, as it's one of the most satisfying activities you could be currently conducting. However, be forewarned that true art lies in discerning the difference.
Back to lengthening days. They say they're not all created equal. But to a man with a stop-watch, 19 days nineteen days from now WILL BE. That's because on December 22, 2007, while many of you were unsuspectingly imbibing egg-nog, the measurable difference in length of day from that preceding DID NOT CHANGE. That's right, the sun rose at 7:15 AM both days, and set at 4:23 PM both days.
To better illustrate the point, today (Feb 19) is 2 minutes and 39 seconds longer than yesterday. AND--tomorrow is 2 minutes and FOURTY seconds longer still!
Well, I have wonderful news for you! Starting on March 9th, and continuing for 19 days till March 27th, each and every day will be 2 minutes and 49 seconds longer than the preceding day.
Meaning that the daylight will be increasing more rapidly than at any other time of the year. Which is to say that the derivative (calculus here folks) of the length of day is at its highest--a rate of change equation.
What will you be doing with your extra 2 minutes and 39 seconds? And, how will you fit it all in?? And, by the time you've mastered that, another fresh 2:39 will be staring you in the face.
Let them flow gently my friend.

UNTITLED
The recalling of the past is a limitless task
That burns my icy veins with its demands
And I've become haunted with metaphor
Every one I create leers over my shoulder
And peeks through my rearview
These fun-house distortions to infinity
But though they twist and flex
Like cold combs
With the torsion of amusement 'rails
They ever circle back
Maddeningly insensate
Like vultures
Carrion eaten ideas
Ideals
Something is trying to talk to me
