Hey, it's me again (the long time reader)...I was just reading your post about the weekend and thought I'd give you my input again. With as much talk about how much you hate your dorm people, I'm kind of not surprised that they didn't want to "include you" this past weekend. Honestly, do you really expect these people, whom you talk so badly about, to want to spend more time with you? The internet is not the most secret of places so I'm sure a number of them read your posts at least once a week, maybe even more. I mean i'm sure that they made every effort in the past to include you, but maybe they just got fed up with the way you talk badly about them, or treat them. From the last post I commented on it sounds to me that maybe they see you as the "party pooper" of the group or something. I mean, you are the one who gets uptight about them talking at night and tells them to stop talking when YOU are trying to sleep, and you didn't say anything in the post that said that you would like to drink, so maybe they just thought that you didn't want to or something. Also, based on your tone it sounds like you were kind of judging them for the alcohol. So why include someone who they know talks badly about them on the internet and who is more like a mom than a friend. Plus you mentioned in your post that you would have rather left that room "rather than force my way into a place I didn't particularly care to be in". So, in my opinion, I don't think that you have the right to complain because you didn't even want to be there in the first place. And that was the part of the post that I was talking about in regards to the whole tone thing. And I did read TragicPirate's post and that sounded like a genuine apology to me. So I just wanted to give you my 2 cents about your weekend and hopefully this will make you think and help you out a little bit. Take care and good luck with school (if you're not already done). ; )

I DO NOT HATE MY DORMMATES IN ANY WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM. I DO NOT EVEN DISLIKE THEM. I WOULD GLADLY GO AS FAR AS TO SAY THAT I GENUINELY LIKE EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM.
Now that I've clarified that...
I would like to point your attention to my most recent post, in which I describe how I only put my complaints in this blog. I wrote this particular post when I was at my most irritated.
Let me address the "tone" issue first: as I said, I was highly irritated. However, I was not attempting to take anyone in hand for drinking. Hell, I've been to TJ with these people! No, I don't drink excessively, but I don't mind if people enjoy their drinks (unless of course they are potentially causing themselves or others harm. Then that's another story).
Let's see... oh yes. The sleeping issue. I understand completely why it can get noisy out in the common room. Laughter, jokes, an all-around good time - they all tend to get loud. My only thing is that there are other places available to sit and have a good time when it is past quiet hours. (Does your school have quiet hours?) My dorm building had a nice kitchen/lounge area downstairs that is away enough from our rooms so as not to disturb any sleepers, but directly downstairs so as not to inconvenience any people distance-wise. If this area were utilized, I and the others trying to sleep could sleep and the owls could chat and we'd all be fine and dandy.
Now... Oh yes, the bad-mouthing. If you'll re-read, I did not insult any of them, I insulted their behavior. And I don't know about you, but most people don't like having doors slammed in their faces, no matter what the consequence. Had I been given a legitimate excuse as in Pirate's post, I wouldn't have felt so rejected.
The only reason I didn't want to be in there was because they didn't want me in there. I would have enjoyed being in there, hanging out with them and watching The Simpsons or just chatting. Screw the entire fact that there were drinks involved. It would have been even more fun being in there sober while they were drunk. The point is that I would have liked being in there, but I wasn't and I didn't know why.
Hmm... "the way I treat them": I ask them if they'd like to come to dinner. I wish them a good night when I go to bed. I ask after them if they seem ill, how their midterms went, etc. I'm sorry if that seems "motherly"; I call it politeness. But that's just me. If people don't like motherly attitudes, I'll happily be inconsiderate or unattentive. It'd probably require less work.
God. It's a good thing I don't complain about the mess in here too. Lord knows what you'd think of that.
Now, let me remind you again. I WAS IRRITATED. DO YOU SOUND LIKE A SONGBIRD WHEN YOU'RE IRRITATED? I REFUSE TO BE CHEERFUL AND FRIENDLY WHEN SOMETHING'S BUGGING ME.
Finally - who are you?
