The weekend

May 15, 2005 20:26

And I'm back. Since I'm suuuure you missed me, allow me to fill you in on the juicy details of my weekend.

+ Friday: Sun God - UCSD's excuse to skip classes and become overly inebriated in the middle of the day.
Rather fun, actually. The highlight of my daytime activities were watching Ascension (go Ian!) at the Price Center stage, listening to the DOTs quite by accident while waiting for Ascension to "ascend" to the stage (haha, slapped your knee didn't I?), and seeing Thuy, who had come in from UCLA to partake in the festivities.
The rest of the daytime was really uninteresting. There's only so many times you can traverse Library Walk or traipse up to the Sun God lawn, and things weren't getting any more thrilling after I'd traveled through both areas thrice. I traveled from my dorm to the areas hosting the festivities and found myself bored in both places. My dorm was no fun because my suitemates were guzzling down the alcohol in the room next door to mine while I sat in my room. I'd had the door to the drunken room slammed in my face several times, and the one time I managed to breach the stupor guarding the room I was politely but definitely rejected. So, rather than force my way into a place I didn't particularly care to be in, I sat around and waited for...
the Nighttime events. The main event is the concert held on RIMAC field in the evening - this year, UCSD proudly welcomed Phantom Planet and Ludacris, amongst others. That was extremely fun (I didn't expect Phantom Planet to be so good live), even though I nearly lost my life twice to the mosh pits (who the hell moshes to Ludacris??).
After the concert, a few of us went to In - n - Out. I gorged on a Double-double meal (my norm is #2, the cheeseburger special) and promptly passed out on my bed.
+ Saturday
Attended a dance concert at San Diego City College, a piece of which featured Ann. Getting there was quite an adventure - bus-hopping, street-walking. Good stuff. The concert was pretty good though, so I didn't mind the hassle getting there. Ann kindly took us back to school where I readied myself for...
the Sixth College Semi-formal! Now THAT was truly fun. I had a great time there, dancing like a maniac with my dorm and OL friends. That was really great, being with all my friends, within and outside my building. This just serves to remind me how goddamned grateful I am for being an OL.
All of the dateless people gathered together during the slow songs, swaying side to side in a large circle of single-awareness. I made light of our situation, suggesting to standerbys that they take in the sight, enjoying the rare gathering of such beautiful and available people. That was really amusing. My friend also started a train, which turned into this gigantic monstrosity of people roaming around the room. The DJs played a few random but very fun songs, and a few random and very dull songs, like all DJs at any event. Overall, the music was good, the people were beautiful, and the night was awesome.

+ Today (Sunday)
Went shopping, again. Then came back and READ! I haven't sat down and read in such a long time; it was glorious.

Anyway, that was my weekend. If you weren't a part of it, I pity you. No weekend is complete without my presence.
(I love sounding this ridiculously vain. I only do it because the people who read this are either my friends, who understand that I kid, or random strangers, whose opinions of me I don't give a flying fuck for.)

As always,
Hanna
