Taking a cue from
misspacific, I decided to listen to audiobooks on the long car rides way to and from school. I got myself a copy of
The Stone Rose, figuring that if I was going to be stuck in traffic, I might as well get my Doctor Who fix and hear David Tennant's sexy, sexy voice at the same time.
This idea was working pretty well today, effectively making the commute pass fairly painlessly. The only downside was that the book was pretty short, so I was on the last bit of it on the way home. Just as I was really getting into the story, I realized that had I passed my exit. And the one after that. My drive ended up being longer than usual. Oh, well. At least I wasn’t bored.

The way the Doctor Who fandom is all in a tizzy over various spoilers and specs brings me great, great joy. It's quite fun to be among those who are as cautiously optimistic as I am. Then again, I'm only staying within the safe confines of the Doctor/Rose 'shipper portion of the fandom. I hear it's scary beyond these walls, what with those annoyed with Angsty!Doctor, those who don't believe the Doctor was ever in love with Rose in the first place, and--dare I mention them?--the scary Ten/Martha 'shippers. (And I mean the scary ones. I'm sure there are others who are perfectly sane, just as not all Doctor/Rose 'shippers believe that making Ten a "pretty boy" was to "reward" Rose. WTF was that about?) I'm having Alias fandom war flashbacks. *shudders*
Also, speaking of Doctor Who,
belanna_paris, you are my Rose/Ten fic crack supplier, and for that, I owe you, like, a million David Tennants holding kittens (a la 'Gridlock,' *sigh*). Thankies! To answer your question in your previous comment, I'll accept any other recs you have time to give.

And because I realized that, despite it being my favorite time of the year (Fall TV Season-woot, woot!), I haven’t yet blathered on about the premieres:
* The Office: I know I said it last week, but I'll say it again: The Office needs to not be an hour long anymore. It was fun when we got them as holiday eps or finales. Now, storylines are just being stretched a little too thin. Mind you, they're still funny; just not as funny as a 20-minute ep. Here's to hoping this week's is a little more bearable. Another thing that bears repeating: Jim and Pam cannot be any more adorable although I'd like to see them challenge that statement.
*Pushing Daisies: It's already starting to tread that fine line between "adorably sweet" and "a little saccharine." As a whole, I thought last week's ep was fantastic, but there were moments that made me seriously worry. Kristin Chenoweth's musical number, for one. It was episode two, and they already had her singing. At least save it for sweeps, guys. Don't get me wrong; I adore her. It was just a little too much to take. That said, Lee Pace alone more than makes up for any doubt I may have. Love. Him. And I still absolutely adore the overall tone of the show. It’s refreshing to see something so bright and witty and unapologetically upbeat.
* Ugly Betty: I'll just say this to get it out of the way: I love Ugly Betty, I really do. There's just something a little off about this season. I'm not sure what it is yet. I do like that Papa Suarez came back, Justin is getting more screen time, and Marc and Amanda are back to being their awesome selves. What I'm not liking is this new Henry/Betty/Gio triangle (would the baby be counted as a technical vertice to make it a square?), Wilhelmena's blatant evilness with little humor to make it easier to swallow, and the real sadness behind Claire's desperation. In any case, SPY DADDY(!). If he broke out into song, it would completely redeem this season for me.
* Law and Order: SVU: Not sure what's up with it this season. The cases are a little...silly. My favorite, though, was 'Avatar.' I cried laughing. The British accent, plus "This is them at the beach, on a snow-capped mountain, at a virtual mall, and floating in space," and accompanying pictures of two figures (one of which was dressed as an executioner) in each backdrop was one of the funniest things to grace my screen.
* Heroes: I'm finding it really difficult to care about the new Heroes--except, of course, for David Anders, but I'm biased. The Wonder Twins only became barely interesting with the addition of Sylar to their field trip. Micah's cousin is an awful actress, whoever she is, and his other cousin needs to get kicked in the head. West is Jan's former assistant, Hunter, from The Office with pretty awful line deliveries, so he just makes me laugh. Things I am enjoying, though: Mohinder and Matt playing My Two Dads with Molly, HRG/Noah going back to his mysterious roots, the Haitian Sensation, Peter's haircut, and the mystery behind the killings of the older generation. Now bring on the Kristen Bell!
* How I Met Your Mother: Barney is still awesome. Marshall is still adorable. Ted will eventually meet the love of his life. Robin is really, really pretty. Lilly still has an amazing wardrobe. That's all I need to know about that.
* Chuck: From the summer ads, I figured this show would be good. I didn’t expect it to be as fantastic as it turned out to be. I’m loving the wit and adorkableness. Also, Captain Awesome. That name alone makes it one of my favorite new shows. Surprisingly, I’m not ‘shipping Chuck/Sarah right off the bat, but that may just be because of a certain ‘ship that broke my fangirl heart into tiny, itsy bitsy pieces this summer. Oh, but that’s another show.
* Kid Nation:I didn’t expect to like this show as much as I do. “Kids are stupid, and they’re going to kill themselves while out in the desert by themselves,” I thought. While the latter may be true, it’s surprising how bright these kids are. Sure, kids will be kids (seriously, flour fights aren’t a good idea). Still, it’s really heartening when those young leaders step up and impress everyone with their ability to really run a town. Also, kids are silly and hilarious to watch sometimes.

Homework? What homework? I hear last night’s Chuck calling my name from the DVR. And then sleep would be nice, too.
