Huh. So that explains why, tonight, every entrance to my apartment community was completely blocked off and would continue to be blocked off for another couple of hours, according to a kind--yet overly calm considering what I know now--police officer.
Can't say I regret turning around and driving back home right after arriving in Irvine. I may have to wake up extra early tomorrow to get to my 10 AM class, but it beats spending the night in an apartment amidst all that action when none of the roomies would be home for the night.
So much for thinking Irvine was one of the safest cities around. Oy.
