I have a lot on my mind. Being faced with a job change brings into questions a career change and that in turn effects a life change. The big questions have to be asked and hopefully answered. What do I want? What makes me happy? What do I need to do to be responsible? Where am I going? How can I get there? and so on and so forth ( Read more... )

I don't want to raise my child without a spiritual faith

this speaks volumes to me. I feel the same way with Jake. And you know, it's funny because he's already got an idea of what he believes in, just from having had the opportunity to speak openly about faith within the home, and hanging out with people of different faiths since he was born. When he was about 8 he declared he was budhhist. Now he's on a different path of which I'm not sure but he's let me know that he has his beliefs and that they don't need to be grouped up into a box and called something. LOL! One thing I know for sure is that he is definitely not Wiccan like me. He's told me that loud and clear. Ah yes, my son.

Just reflecting on the pride thing, I got caught up in that too at one point. Anyhow, I'm just wondering if there are other avenues to find pride in ones work aside from creativity?

I just wonder if thinking of the different contexts one can find pride in can help expand career prospects?

There are a few spiritual practices that can be interesting enough to keep the attention of children. If it's something related to Christianity, one of those "Born Again" events that involve music/musicians, dancing and audience particiption can be really fun for kids. However, some of the people who really get into it with the fainting and "speaking in tongues" can be too much for some people.

I know that there are some very good ones out in Langley.

Ummm... I know all this because of my curiousity and interest in all religious practices. :)

Yah, after we left I told Paul I was disappointed because there was no choir singing gospel as loud as possible or people in the pews yelling "Amen" whenever they wanted to.
Paul informed me I watch too many movies.

Have you gone to the Shambhala Centre?

Try Georgia. ;)

I went to sunday school as a kid. My mother didn't believe in it (agnostic), but she wanted me to make up my own mind. Sunday school was fun, although not particularly good at instilling any particular faith in me... given that I wound up agnostic as well. :)

What's Georgia? The big ass church on the corner of Burrard and Georgia?

I feel a sense in pride with being able to instill the Christian values I was raised with in my children.

Good luck if you pursue Canada Post. An ex of mine is a postie in POCO. Most days he was done his route by 2 pm. He looked hot in the uniform and has great calves thanks to all that walking....

*ahem* What were we talking about again?

The Unitarian Church has interesting services, and they're very child friendly.

agreed! I've been to several services there, of a more pagan nature mind you (actually in complete pagan nature, LOL!) but I also attended a wedding there this past summer, one of the brides whom was raised Unitarian within that church.

The Unitarian Church? Is there only one or any will do? It's just so confusing. I recently learned there was a difference between "United", "Unitarian" and "Unity" Churches....
