satisfaction.
i saw my first lightning bug this evening. its now summer.
i dont know why, but for me, lightning bugs equal the official start of summer. not pools, not memorial day and cookouts, but nature at its best. the glow of a little bug that brings me such fond memories of the warm yellow 'light' emitting after dark. chasing them around the yard when i was eight, my parents on the porch laughing and pointing me which way to go.
it's comforting to know that even at 22, as i walk though the cement of a parking garage on my way to a work assignment, the mere sight of a lightning bug can stop me in my tracks and put a smile on my face. i forget that i'm still working at 8:30 at night. i forget that my feet are screaming to be released from my three-inch pumps. i forget that i'm still pretty much alone in a new town... and i'm happy. i'm satisfied with my life, my past... and i'm secure in my future.
