There was a point in modern Japanese language, where "naisu" (nice) seemed to be the catchword to describe anything that was "good" or "admirable". It was so overused that I can't say I'm sorry to have seen it fall into disuse. XD Inevitably, it's been replaced by other cliched words/phrases in a never-ending cycle. (*remembers Edo Harumi's "goo!" and shudders*) Linguistic fads. . . you've gotta love the dynamic nature of language. ^^;;;
But I digress. . . "Naisu na Kokoroiki" is cute, cute, cute! A sparkly, rainbow GHEI j-pop song that best represents what Arashi means to me. (^____^) If you haven't done so already, I REALLY must insist you watch their brief performance of this song in their "How's it Going" con. . . RUN and go download it right now!! Rainbow afros, rainbow disco outfits, Ohno in a blue dress "outfit" three sizes too large, sporting fringe. . . Let your mind boggle at it! EMBRACE THE GHEI!!!!

The guy that gets by on just looks,
I probably don't wanna be him
As I hung out at that turning point
My luck ran out

t/n: [aka, linguistic fail/flail]
This is a "be true to yourself" type of feel-good song.
Stanza 1:
曲がり角で 道草してたら
ツキは逃げてった
magari kado de michigusa shite tara
tsuki wa nigetetta
A fun passage, and somewhat ambiguous one. "magari kado" can be either a physical or mental concept. It can literally mean a "street corner" or a "turn in the road", or it can also mean a mental or emotional "turning point", and it's used pretty much the same way in English. So the "hanging around" could be at a real life, physical street corner. . . or more of an emotional one. Considering the context of the song, I'm leaning more towards the latter.
The "tsuki" is insteresting too. . . it's definitely referring to a noun, but since it's written in katakana, it probably isn't referring to a "moon" (月), but rather "luck".
Stanza 5
街角 口笛吹いて
コケたり 無駄したりしてる
machikado kuchibue fuite
koketari muda shitari shiteru
At the corner whistling
I make mistakes and do pointless things
Initially I made a mistake here. . . my Japanese is Kansai-based, so there are slight dialectal differences in terms of lexicon. コケる simply means "to trip (as in fall)" to me. . . but it has a slightly different meaning in mainstream standard, it's slang for "to mess up, to make a mistake". FAIL T_T hahah
