hair and violet liquor

Why does everything seem more expensive in the States? I've been browsing Japanese hairstyle/salon websites and their pricing is so much more reasonable. Here the average haircut is what...50+ dollars? In Japan it starts at 20 and their skill level is much much higher. Plus they can do latest and greatest perms and whatnot. I'm thinking about getting an air-wave perm aka the Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen look.

This is the top runner so far..will probably cost me about 100 for cut + perm.
And the best part of all...NO TIPS REQUIRED! Tipping is such a horrible custom to have.

Plans to have a dapper night at the Varnish downtown tonight. Saw an article about them and specifically some sort of violet liquor that they serve there that I am keen on trying. I'd also like to try absinthe since I've never had it before. I just imagine it to taste like rubbing alcohol...it sounds so medicinal.

I think the reason that I haven't update livejournal in such a long time is that as I get older, my life is just becoming more and more boring with nothing to write about. Or at least my attitude towards my life right now is making me feel like I have nothing worthy to write. Hopefully Tokyo will remedy that short-term while I work on a long-term fix myself..which may involve relocating.
