As New Years inches ever closer (and with its rare Blue Moon), I decided to do something a little differently this year.
I normally make (a) New Years Resolution(s) and do my hardest to stick with it. As for 2009, I did pretty much accomplish everything I made a resolution to do. I got in touch with a couple old friends, lost touch with some newer ones unfortunately, and have very nearly cut sugary drinks out of my diet. I was going to make and post another set of resolutions for 2010, and then up on the community spotlight page appeared an intriguing community:
mission101.
The idea is simple enough: create a list of 101 things to do, and then do them in the span of 1,001 days.
The rules are simple, too: your tasks must be specific in their wording with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. They have to be reasonable, no unreachable goals, and they have to represent some amount of effort on your part. (If you want more information, the info page does a good job of it.)
So I decided to take up the challenge.
I'm still putting together my 101 in 1001 list, but I'll definitely link it here. Aha, do you know how much space a list of 101 things would take up if I posted it here? Anyone who gets lj inbox notifications would kill me. Heck, I would kill me for doing something like that.
I'll be participating at
mission101 and
mission101_2010 for the most part. Though I do have a goal down to write a piece of flash fiction everyday for the full 1001 days, along with some other writing goals that would be public writing, so... I know it's my journal and I can write what I want... Honestly: would any of you enjoy seeing at least one piece of writing everyday for 1001 days here? Communities/writing journals are a different matter entirely, so if enough people are in the mindset of: "Don't you dare spam my flist like that!", I'll be more than happy to relocate it to someplace where I can spam daily public writing to my heart's content without feeling guilty. As, well, public writing is meant to be public. (The actual posting of it will help out so much in sticking to the goal(s).)
Just remember if you don't mind a piece of writing everyday for 1001 days, that's about 2.75 years.
(Yes, I do realize that's nearly three years. And I agree that I must be some kind of crazy to even attempt doing such a thing
So.....
Any takers for someone who wants to do this with me? Why no, this isn't one of my goals.. And definitely not #101. Nope, definitely not.
