ANOTHER LFC POST :D

Aug 30, 2010 01:53

(Football is making post regularly more than everything else before :0)(NEED LFC ICON)

So : Liverpool - WBA : 1-0

Liverpool won and finally got 3 points :D ( and is out of the relegartion zone...)

Now that is not to say this was a wonderful match. As much as winning and the goal made so fucking happy (I'll explain below), Liverpool struggled against WBA and that is far from being a good thing. On the contrary, it really shows that we're really in deep shit and this is going to be a long season if LFC can't get its shit together.

On to my usual report aka ramblings on the match.

Lots of things to say about this match.

1) Once more, Liverpool failed to really deliver a consistent and efficient all-around performance during this match against West Brom Albion. While the two previous matches could be considered as hard, WBA is not the kind of team you would expect Liverpool to struggle against and yet. The same flaws, the same issues plagued Liverpool during the whole match (although in their usual fashion, the second half was marginally better than the first.) and it was painful to watch them lose the ball or not defending properly. I can't even which of the defense, the midfield or the attack is currently the best. And I think it's very telling, sadly. I was quite happy though before the match when they showed the list of the players and I saw that Stevie was playing just behind Fernando. I swear I smiled like an idiot at that time. And just as I was smiling, YNWA started. What a timing !  So as much as I like Stevie playing behind Fernando (because that's the best way to make them play.), we need another creative midfielder to replace Stevie and we did not have that today. (We did sign another player yesterday who might do that job, see point 10).) It means that generally when we got the ball back and it was time to enter the opponents' half and go forward, it would fail a lot of time wiht us losing the ball or not being able to pass it to either Gerrard or Torres. It was frustrating to watch because each time we had the ball in the midfield, I almost expected us to lose the ball before having an occasion to score. 0-0 at half time and the fans were expecting a better second half and a few goals. We got the better half but only one goal. The second half was sure different, the pace was quicker, smoother and they had a lot more occasions to score. They just did not. According to the stats of the match at one time, Liverpool had 78% possession of the ball. And yet we only won 1-0. This is incredible (not in a good way), we managed to hold the ball, we went into the box, tried many times and just scored one goal. We just did not succeed in finishing our attack for most of the time. Either the goalie would stop the ball or it would sail past the goal. It's actually quite depressing.

In the same vein, I have to complain about the subs again. There were only two, Maxi for Jova, and Babel for Torres. Both in the second half, and although I can't remember when Maxi came on the pitch, Babel only came at 88'. Seriously, Roy ? For what, two minutes plus stoppage time ? What is the fucking point ? I wish Babel would play, even if it means less Torres on the pitch (still, not that much XD). Why not start Babel and then have Torres subbed for him. Do the same or vice-versa with N'Gog. I think it could work better for Liverpool, IMO.

2) Today's referee sucked. And I mean really, really sucked. And to be honest, it favoured and disadvantaged both teams. The referee must have smoking or drinking some calming shit because most of the time he didn't blow his whistle for most of the fouls committed during the match. Most of the time, he would just let the game go on while an obvious foul had been committed. It could have looked funny to see players from one team stop playing to look at the referee and then suddenly running to defend if it wasn't so annoying. It could have been bad for us at sometimes when Skrtel was being too rough in his defending (hello, PK) and it could have worked in our favour with WBA fouling Nando in the box (Hello, PK.) It was really weird seeing all these fouls and the game just going on.

The irony in that ? Near the end of the match, the referee, suddenly waking up (or the calming shit had stopped being effective), sent off a WBA player for kicking Nando. I'm not sure it was really a straight red card but IMO anyone fouling and kicking Nando should get his ass handed to him. Which lead me to 3).

3) STOP FOULING NANDO, YOU FUCKING BITCHES. DON'T TOUCH HIM, DON'T KICK HIM. STOP IT.

Each time someone fouls him, each time he's going down, I'm always so fucking worried he's injured. And's even more worrying when the referee isn't even caring one bit about the foul committed. It just makes me want to grab the referee and kick his ass. Seriously, if they don't get told off, why do you think the defenders are going to think ? 'Hey, we can foul Torres as much as we want !' Of course, some fouls of Torres did resulted in free kicks. I think if it none had, someone would have had to cut a bitchthe referee. I was literally yelling at my laptop each time, and that's just creepy. But that's because he's 'fabulous but fragile' Fernando Torres. (according to ITV commentators, I think. Or was it Skysports ? Can't remember.)

UNDERSTOOD, BITCHES ? NANDO IS OFF-LIMITS AS FAR AS DIRTY PLAY IS CONCERNED.

(Amusing note. On ontd_football, when Nando was fouled for the first most of the comments were pretty much saying the same very thing : 'DON'T TOUCH NANDO, BITCH.' XDDD)

4) Could the commentators please SHUT THE FUCK UP sometimes ? And not repeat the same bloody thing in the same bloody tone about the same bloody player. Yes, we know Torres is a bit slow. Yes, we know he's not completely fit yet. You don't have to harp on it, thank you. It's hard enough as it. And it shows. It was painfully obvious to anyone that Nando was trying so hard to achieve something, to assist in a goal or to score. (Stevie was also trying to very hard :D)

And Spanish commentators ? Torres has a first name and it's Fernando, not El niño. Calling him El niño Torres during the whole game was abit silly :o

5) To finish the negative points, what to think of this game ? It seems like Liverpool will have a slow start this season (Playing Arsenal and Manchester City right in the beginning sure did not help.), they sometimes seem to work better as a team, even though they still have some issues to work through. Thanksfully in this game, we had some Stevie-Fernando action that had been previously lacking in previous matches, and hopefully in the next matches, this action will lead to some goals. (Pretty please ?) Need to work on defense and midfield. And we need to stop the 'ugly first half, better second half' pattern and have an entire good match, plz ? We're playing Man Utd on the 19th and if we play the way we played today and against Shitty, we're dead.

6) David N'Gog might be injured ? The commentators were talking about him, saying he wasn't in on the list. Then I heard something like 'abdominal injury/ies' I wasn't entirely listening so I have no idea if they were talking about him or not :( I hope not.

The Positive things now :

7) The goal. Guess who's scored ? :DDD Fernando Torres did :D And was a beautiful goal, it was !  His 50th goal for Liverpool, following a pass from Dirk Kuyt and Liverpool was leading ! This was such a magic moment and you could see how relieved he was to finally have been able to score. The celebration was quite cute with him running to Dirk to hug and then Stevie joining the celebration *w*. (Stevie/Nando ♥) It was like a burden had been removed from his shoulder. The Kop was singing the Torres Bounce and he almost scored another one (following a pass from Stevie this time), had the goalie not stopped it.

Unsurprisingly, when he scored, I was teary-eyed, bouncing in my chair and clapping wildly (my parents must think I'm nuts XD). It felt so fucking good to see him score. I was once again smiling like an idiot and at the end of the match, I was dancing in the dark in my room. Crazy, I know. Torres (and Stevie) bring out the crazy in me <333

One other wonderful things about this goal ? Now the commentators had to shut up. It was a 'fuck you' to them. Go on, criticise him, he won't be scared and he will score !

You can hear the Torres song in the end <33

8) PEPE, CAN I HAS UR BBS PLZ ? (even though I hate kids.)

Pepe was once again AWESOME, BRILLIANT, MAGNIFICENT, ETC. He made some  amazing saves, making my heart beat very very fast.

BLESS YOU, PEPE !

10) Shallow trivia : Torres was wearing short sleeves today :O I was so surprised when I saw him at the beginning  of the match that I thought for a moment I had mistaken someone else for him. I have to say, I rather like him with the short sleeves ;) more than with long sleeves (moar skin <3)
I'm also liking the brown hair more and more, as well the way he's styling it. I thought I'd miss the blond hair but in fact I don't miss it that much.
During half time, just before the start of the second half, they showed the players warming up and they focused on Stevie and Nando speaking. That was such a cute Gernando moment <333

11) As the end of the transfer window approaches, we signed a new player yesterday, Raul Meireles, a Portuguese player, who just might be what Liverpool need for its midfield. We might sign a new left-back Paul Konchesky. Both players were at Anfield for the match yesterday. We might sign another striker or midfield before Tuesday but nothing's sure though. We desperately need more new players.

tl;dr

Liverpool : Rollercoaster ride (Oh, God. I just remember I dreamed about being on a rollercoaster ride and football tonight. This is way too funny.) but I STILL LOVE THE TEAM. They tried so hard and they succeeded in securing a win, even though it wasn't a great performance. Nando scored the winning goal and it was the best thing about this match ♥

Short thoughts on other matches :

FC Kaiserslautern - Bayern München : (2-0) Bayern lost. That was a bit surprising because they did not play badly. They kept possession and attacked. Kaiserslautern just had a very good goalie and the ball just wouldn't go in. They were some good occasions missed, for instance, when Müller passed the goalie but the ball went wide and missed the goal. He looked so upset, and he must have been worse for him in the end.

Mallorca - Real Madrid : (0-0) In a way, I'm not surprised. I said it in earlier posts. Real Madrid, for all its win in pre-season matches, failed to impress. And once again, tonight, they failed to impress. They missed perfect occasion, either by being too slow, by being too selfish or selfless. Same problem as Bayern (and to some extent Liverpool in the second half), keep possession but can't score.
It was also to see the referee blow his whistle for so many fouls after the Liverpool match  :o
Mourinho petting or patting Sergio Canales' (aka RM Jailbait) head after he was subbed ? Awww, cute as hell.
A RM defender did quite an acrobatic overheard kick. I wonder if it was Sergio ? (I still can't get over his hair ;_;)
TV Channels are evil. Why did the camera cut off to a replay off the match the very moment Xabi was taking his shirt off ? Not fair, dammit.

Next match : Euro 2012 qualifiers next Friday (I'm going to have three (four, if you count France on the TV without sound) matches at the same time, I can feel it.) No Liverpool for two weeks :( but at least, my poor heart will have some ;)
