Remember
that post and the Hornblower quote in it ? Then rejoice, Non French-speakers, I've found that quote in english ^-^(It's even worse in english *__________________________* ♥)
Huhu Subtext ahoy ! XD
A marine was winding up the bucket, and Hornblower seized it. He raised the bucket to his lips, leaning back to balance the weight; and he drank and drank, water pouring over his face, until the bucket was empty, and then he put it down with a grin at Bush, his face still dripping water. The very sight of him was enough to make Bush, who had already had one drink from the well, feel consumed with thirst all over again.
Lieutenant Hornblower. C.S Forrester.
You can't be more explicit...(Well, in fact, he can and he does later in the books XD)
On another subject, I've watched 300 two days ago and... o__________o... I should have seen it before. Damn, that's eye candy for us *_* ♥ Half naked warrior vigorously and fiercely fighting for their lives, spilling blood everywhere, that's something to see.
It's more an aesthetic film than anything else. The way he was filmed, the editing full of slow-motion, a rock-ish soundtrack, a really paint-like photography makes me think they did go more for an aesthetic view of this part of Greec History more than a realistic one. It's really beautiful~ And I encourage people to see it as quick as possible~
One thing I did not really like was something that seems to be present in every Epic film like Troy or Alexandre. The kind of films that deals with free sexuality and blatant homosexuality. The heterosexual sex scene. They need to keep the balance or what ? O_O... People will be shocked if there's no het pairing having sex in the films ? Damn our so-called morals ! ><
In Troy, it's clearly Achilles and Patrocle, it has always been them. And BLAM !, what did we have ? A female prisonner for Achilles, who fall into his arms soon after and vlan, what do we have ? The Heterosexual Sex Scene. And he even die for her. I don't know it's 'historically' accurate (I doubt it) but it's just really annoying.
Now, Alexandre. It's even more explicit than Troy. Alexandre and Hephaistyon (Whoo, if I get the spelling right, that's a miracle >>) love each other deeply, since they were child and such. Once more, here, homosexuality is not a since, and therefore is normal. And what do we have, in the middle of the film ? The Heterosexual Sex Scene. And an awful one @_@ I only watched it once and... I was really appalled at the way it was done o_o. It was a rough way to keep the balance, seriously. Too much erotic on the side, useless nudity and just after an adorable slashy moment ♥. Failure, complete failure in my opinion. I don't mind him marrying. He needs an heir, and even if he loves her a bit, he still loves more Hephaistyon. Did they really need to include the HSS ? No. But they needed to reassure the audience -____-''' and thus screwing, us slashers -_-...
And now 300. There's no canon gay relationships in 300. They don't really have time to be cosy and flirty with each other. It's mainly battle. But, as we can imagine, 300 men in the wild, half-naked, you may have some... Well, you know XD It can't stay chaste... Especially when you talk about warriors X333 The HHS is not bad in itself, it's just his interest that I can not understand. It's between Leonidas and his wife, it's a the beginning. I think it's to show their love for each other... Couldn't they do that without them naked ? =_=...
There's an adorable possible pairing in the film, between Astinos (Captain's son who[spoil]was decapitated by a persian rider[/spoil]) and Stelios, the mad one XD who thinks a death by the Persians is a great death). They fight (and flirt) side by side, they're just too cute XDD (And I'm not the only one to see that XD)
And Faramir looks great in leather XD
(Clever transition >_>)
I was watching LotR : FoftR yesterday. It has been such a longtime since I've seen it and I did not know Hornblower the last time I had seen it. Therefore, I couldn't know there were hobbits named "Hornblower" and "Bracegirdle". I promptly laughed out loud in my room XD That was too good XD I've already problem with being over-obsessed with Hornblower, I don"t need a reminder XD
After that, as I kept on watching the film, I thought of a silly fic I've read in the Pit of Voles, a sorf of Parody of LotR with the Hornblower Characters.
Horny was Frodo, Archie was Sam and Captain Sawyer was Gandalf (>_>). Leaving me the rest of the cast to fill in. Bad, bad idea >_> My ribs still resent me.
-Captain Obvious!Legolas should be played by Major "His Haughty and Arrogant Lorship" Edrington.-
-I'm grumpy and shows no weaknesses!Aragorn should be played by First Lieutenant "Little ba...Gentleman" Bush-
-Member of the Official Club of Sue!Fathers!Elrond should be played by Admiral Sir "I love to tease" Edward Pellew -
- Troublemakers and occasionnally snogging eath other!Merry and Pippin should be played by M'Man Wellard and M'Man Orrock (Finally they can get off with each other *_*)-
*laughs wildly*
And here come the best XD Even if I will be the only one to laugh XD
Mysogynist!Incestuous!Totally Misunderstood! Boromir should be played by Captain Sharpe from the 93th Regiment XDDDD (Note : Sharpe is another series of films, featuring the Captain Sharpe, played by Sean Bean. I've seen some crossovers and really hot crossovers between Sharpe and Hornblower...See why I laugh now ? XD)
That leaves Gimli with no counterpart :\ I thought of Matthews, maybe XD...Meaning some Matthews/Edrington o_O Wah o_o... I love how some LotR pairings works really well with HH. The Sharpe/Edrington, Horatio/Archie, Bush/Edrington XDD
...
... Well, that was random XD. Mostly slash ranting!Random XD
