Author Notes: I am late...I am very sorry.
He had too much work and he was already seeing all the accidents he could have tomorrow when he drove to work. Snow sucked. It made the streets icy and slick and his nose and hands freeze off.
How people could love this time of the year was a mystery to him…He plain hated it.
Sipping at his hot coffee, he looked out of the window. Since it was getting dark, he couldn’t see that much but he knew the snow was there. It had snowed all day.
Just as he wondered whether another coffee would be a good idea, his door bell rung. Frowning, he looked at the clock. Who could it be? He expected no one…so he decided that he was not going to open the door. He wasn’t in the mood.
Ten minutes later, there was a deep crease between his eyebrows since the person in front of his door had not given up like he had predicted, but was rather ringing the bell like crazy.
His poor nerves…
Ready to tell off whoever was pissing him off (to say it mildly), he went to his door and ripped it open.
He was greeted by puppy-eyes, an enormous pout and an innocent look. His rage literally puffed out of him.
“Pi…”
“You know this is a bad habit. How can you be so mean and let me freeze for over ten minutes and in this goddamn cold? You better not do this again.” The other scolded him and looked like Rudi with his red nose.
“Sorry…” He said meekly and stepped to the side to let the other in.
“Oh no…” Tomohisa smiled devilishly at him. “You are not getting away that easily.”
He was getting a real bed feeling.
“What…?”
“You are going outside with me!”
“No!” He stepped back and shook his head. No one would get him out in this freaking cold if he didn’t have to.
Ten minutes later he had to correct himself. No one but Yamashita Tomohisa got him out in such a damn cold.
He sighed as he remembered how the other had assaulted him, forced him in his winter clothes and then looked at him with doe-eyes and a quivering bottom lip to get away with it. Tomohisa knew just how to manipulate him. Such a sly guy.
“You are so mean.” He said as he wrinkled his nose. Just now a snow flake had landed on it.
“Bullshit. You just have to see how nice the snow is!” Tomohisa grabbed his glove covered hand and dragged him through the snow.
He didn’t know anyone else who loved snow as much as Tomohisa did. The other loved summer and the surfing that came with it, but on the other hand he got ecstatic whenever he saw snow…much to his dismay.
They got to a little park and Tomohisa let go of his hand in favour of jumping around in the powder like substance.
“You know, 27 old men should be a little bit more grown up. You are such a child.”
“Better childish than grumpy.” Tomohisa chirped and started to collect snow.
“Oh not again, you only build a snowman last year.”
“Exactly, last year.” Tomohisa looked pointedly at him “If you don’t want to freeze, help me.”
He watched the other work and felt the cold crawl under his clothes. Cursing the younger one, he started to gather snow as well.
After they had piled up three considerably big bowls of snow, Tomohisa searched through his pockets and actually pulled out a carrot and little stones for the face.
“You planned this.” He deadpanned.
“Duhhh.” Tomohisa giggled and looked contently at their work.
“I don’t get why you come every year to Osaka just to build a snowman…” He grumbled but couldn’t help but feel slightly pleased anyway.
“I wonder…” Tomohisa said thoughtfully and then walked a few steps till he reached untouched snow and let himself fall backwards.
“What the hell are you doing?” He hurried over to his friend.
“I am making snow-angels.” And as if to prove his point, Tomohisa moved his arms and legs to create the outline of an angel.
After he was done, he simply kept lying there looking into the sky. Wasn’t the snow wet and cold and just…yuck?
He wanted to shake his head at the other’s silliness, but couldn’t help but marvel at him. Tomohisa looked so much more like a snow-angel than any angel that could be drawn into the snow. His cheeks were red from the exercise and the white snow around him was a strong contrast to his black leather jacket. His eyes were sparkling with happiness and contentment.
“Come on, Snow-angel. Let’s get warmed up again.” He turned on his heels and trudged back to his apartment.
“Hey!” Tomohisa was quick to follow him.
Sometimes he wondered a little what they were to each other…like just now when he had watched Tomohisa in the snow, but the thoughts were only fleeting.
“Don’t leave me behind!” Tomohisa slang his arm around his shoulders to make sure, he wouldn’t be left behind in the snow by him.
“Yeah, yeah…”
“Hey Ryo-chan, did you get a present for me for Christmas?”
“It’s still weeks…anyway, who said I would get you anything?”
“Meanie…I got something for you two weeks ago.”
Not being able to suppress it, he smiled pleased to himself.
“Really? I guess I should get you something as well…but I will only give it to you when you get it yourself on Christmas Eve.”
They were at his apartment and got inside. Getting out of their winter clothes, they went into his nicely heated living room.
“But don’t couples meet at Christmas Eve? Noooo, we can’t do that. I heard you a sneaky on dates. My poor butt!”
“Eh?”
Tomohisa giggled and he rolled his eyes at the other’s silly behaviour.
“Silly…”
“I don’t have to worry?” The other winked at him cheekily and he decided to make him shut up once and for all.
Tomohisa’s lips where still slightly cold yet so where his, but it seemed that the kiss heated them in no time.
He coughed awkwardly after he had pulled back…maybe not the action he should have done…
“And here I thought, I would get my present on Christmas Eve.”
He looked at the other one with a lifted eyebrow and Tomohisa simply smiled.
“Well…that only means your present at Christmas is bigger.” His cheeks and ears might be glowing.
“Does that mean I have to worry about my butt after all?”
”Maybe…” Now it was his turn to grin cheekily.
“Sneaky!” Tomohisa said and then leaned causally against him. “I guess I don’t have to create romantic moments anymore through dragging you into the snow…what a pity.” Tomohisa almost sounded sad.
“Isn’t it a tradition or something to build a snowman each winter?” He grumbled and he could see the other beam at him.
With Tomohisa everything was easy…even the getting together. They didn’t have to say it aloud to know. They just knew.
On Christmas Eve like he had predicted, Tomohisa stood right at 8 o’clock in front of his door ready to celebrate Christmas with him.
Even though he had been assured his lover wouldn’t ditch him, he sighed relieved.
“Let’s go.” Tomohisa smiled and he lifted an eyebrow. He had known the other would plan something that’s why he didn’t…at least not for the early evening.
“It’s cold.” He mumbled
The other only rolled his eyes and shoved his winter jacket at him. He only put it on because he was curious.
In the end, they stood in front of a small restaurant. Tomohisa was someone who usually tried to impress his lovers with impressive dates…this looked rather inconspicuous. Not that he minded. He was just surprised.
“You are surprised?”
“You don’t usually go to places like this.”
“I figured it would be pretty pointless to try to impress you. You know me anyway. I really like it here. The food is good.”
It really was, he had to agree about 20 minutes later. They talked about their everyday life. What this and that sempai had said. Who was going on their nerves and people they both knew and hadn’t seen for ages.
“Jin called me earlier. He wants to see us.” Tomohisa said before he nipped at his wine.
“Hm…I haven’t seen Bakanishi in ages…”
”I think he wants us to baby-sit. He complained about not getting to go to dates with Meisa because of the baby.”
“I always make my niece cry.” He shrugged his shoulders and Tomohisa laughed.
“Not smiling creepily might help.”
“I am not creepy…”
“That’s just as if you were telling me you are not mean.” Tomohisa said with so much honesty, his jaw would have hit the table if they were in an anime.
“Excuse me? When was the last time I was mean to you?”
“Yesterday on the phone you told me to get my brain back from its vacation.”
“Uhm…okay, before that?”
“Before that? Three days ago you told me that if I didn’t hurry up, your niece would be soon more grown up than I am…and you told me my IQ is non-existence. Moreover, you said I look like an idiot with my favourite hat and that I should never tie my hair up again because it makes me look like a girl. Then you said that if I didn’t stop eating like a pig you would bring me to a farm to get rid of me. Also, you said that…”
“Okay stop! Stop! I got it…”
“I was just saying…”
“I know, I know…I am starting to wonder why you love me.”
“Do I need a reason?” Tomohisa blinked at him innocently. Gosh, he loved the idiot to pieces.
“No, you don’t.”
Tomohisa accepted that and after they had finished dinner with an enormous dessert they left again.
“The mousse ou chocolate had been so good…” He rubbed his tummy contently.
“I sometimes go there just for that.” Tomohisa admitted and he smiled slightly. The other knew what was good.
“What do we do now?” Tomohisa asked as they walked with no particular destination in mind through the streets.
“We could ice-skate?” He had wanted to try that for ages.
“I have never done that before…”
“Neither have I.”
That seemed to give Tomohisa courage and he nodded.
“There is a park close by where we can try.”
”People might see us though…” Tomohisa said concerned.
“There is nothing wrong with two friends trying out ice-skating.”
”Two male friends?”
“No one can tell from that we are dating.”
Tomohisa seemed to ponder that and then agreed to go. He was glad. Of course was it suspicious, but he wanted to do something romantic with the other…since he was apparently always so mean to him.
They lent some skates and stalked to the ice rink.
“Maybe this was not such a good idea after all…” Tomohisa looked at the ice and was very reluctant to get on it.
“Only a few steps…look even that little girl over there can do it.”
“She surely has practice.”
“You don’t want me to call you a chicken, do you?” He was taunting the other and Tomohisa puffed out his cheeks annoyed before given him a slightly push…which made him sway quite some.
“You go first. I will follow you.”
He grumbled…that was not what he had wanted, but he went anyway. The second he was with both feet on the ice, he slipped and landed on his butt.
“I see…it is really very easy.” Tomohisa said with a straight face and he stuck out his tongue.
“Don’t go back on your word and come.”
“Okay, okay…”
While Tomohisa came slowly closer, he fought himself back on his feet and held his hand out for the other to take. It would probably make more sense if either of them could skate, but they had now at least an excuse for holding hands in public. And yes, he had put that into account.
Tomohisa held on tightly and in now time they were clinging to each other trying to stay upright.
So far they had not gotten very far.
“You think we will manage one round?” Tomohisa laughed as he tried to slide a little only to cling to him again.
“Let’s make it a half…let’s better not try the impossible.” He grabbed Tomohisa by the waist and wondered how they should get even a few centimetres forward.
“Not the impossible? Okay, let’s try ten centimetres then.” Tomohisa must have read his mind.
“Somehow…” Just as he said that, he lost his footing and he pulled Tomohisa down with him. He was really glad that the other took such things lightly and only laughed. Tomohisa laughed a lot…so even though they were failing terribly, it was certainly worth it.
“Tomo…”
The younger one tried to get off him, but in the end fell back down and instead simply rolled off him.
“And now? How do we get up?” Tomohisa asked.
“That is a very good question…”
Tomohisa burst out laughing anew.
“This is so crazy. Why are we doing this?”
”Obviously, because you are having a lot of fun.” He grinned.
They tried to get up again and after three failed attempts they managed.
After three hours, a lot of falling down and hugging each other to stay stable, they had managed half a round and contently gave up.
“The people watching us had a lot of fun seeing us fail.” Ryo said as he took off the skates.
“We had more fun though.” Tomohisa pointed out. The other’s cheeks were red from the exercise and he would have loved to kiss him right then and there on the mouth. He sighed. Being an idol was really tough sometimes.
“Should we go back to my flat?”
Tomohisa nodded and they had to walk quite a bit till they reached his car.
When they reached it they got inside and he switched on the heating. The car was so cold. There was a comfortable silence between them till Tomohisa suddenly out of the blue started to sing Christmas songs. After he had stopped chuckling he joined in. The other was sure to entertain him with whatever he did. He has never been bored being with him.
Thankfully, the streets were reamed and they reached his flat comfortably. They hurried though the cold and as soon as his entrance door had fallen shut behind them, he pulled Tomohisa close and kissed him on the mouth. Gently, he licked over his bottom lip and was glad when the other opened his mouth just enough for him to slip his tongue in. He was immediately met by the other’s eager tongue and he sighed contently into the kiss.
He would have loved to kiss Tomohisa at their date but this was probably the riskiest date he ever had and he was not stupid. They had shown each other in public enough.
“You couldn’t have waited till I took off my shoes or even only took a breathe?” There was a twinkling in the other’s eyes and he just had to kiss him again.
He was not sure how long they kissed. Even if they broke apart he pulled the other in again and Tomohisa didn’t seem to mind in the least…at least for a while.
“I am getting dizzy…you are stealing way too much oxygen.”
He smiled broadly because he couldn’t help it. Tomohisa looked at him and suddenly was the one to kiss him. Only for a short while though, before he shrugged out of his jacket and shoes. The younger one winked at him and then disappeared in the blink of an eye. Puzzled he followed after him, only to find him on the couch cuddling his pillows.
“Do you want a hot chocolate?”
“Sure.”
He went into his kitchen and made two and brought them outside. Then he got the cookies he had made for especially today and flopped down next to Tomohisa.
They sat side by side eating and drinking and he couldn’t help but be content.
“I forgot to give you your present…” Tomohisa got up suddenly and came some seconds later back with a nicely wrapped present.
He opened it curiously and was amazed by the album that was inside. It was incredible thick.
“We have already spent way too much time with each other. The sales woman told me that this is the biggest album they had and if it wasn’t enough I should get a second one.”
“Was it enough?”
“There are only pictures from our childhood in it. You get our teenager years next year.”
He burst out laughing.
There were pictures in there he had almost forgotten and some that almost made him teary because of the memories that were connected to them.
“You remember this one? We took it after we stopped fighting after a fight of four months.” They looked both serious in the picture but what mattered was Tomohisa’s arm around his shoulder and his around the other’s waist.
“I do…those had been four awful long months…” Tomohisa leaned his head against his and looked at the picture.
“We had been so naïve…”
“That’s okay, isn’t it? To be naïve as a child.”
“You are right.” He agreed and then reached next to the couch. He had gotten the other a present as well.
“Here, for you.”
“Thank you.” Tomohisa looked at the present gleefully and then worked on unwrapping it.
“Where did you get those?” The other’s eyes looked ready to pop out of their socks.
“It’s my secret.”
Tomohisa held up the boots and looked at them in awe. It were exactly the same the other had worn earlier on their date…just not as damaged and without holes. The other had refused to buy others even though they looked already for three years ready for the trash. It had been tough finding exactly the same boots the other had…since it was a model from six years ago. Tomohisa had simply always claimed that no other boots were as comfortable.
“Please, I don’t expect for you to throw the old pair away…just please, stop looking like a homeless person.”
Tomohisa chuckled and slipped into them.
“They fit perfectly…”
”Of course, I got exactly the same.”
“Thanks Ryo-chan. Really.”
Tomohisa beamed at him before wrapping his arms around his neck and kissing him.
He was really relieved. He had feared that Tomohisa would not be happy, but apparently he was finally able to wear other shoes.
They spent the rest of the night on the couch just talking.
“You know what I realized? Not that much has changed between us now that we are dating except the kissing.”
”Does it bother you?” He asked the younger one. They were sitting each on one end of the couch while having their legs tangled.
“No, not at all. I just realized.”
“Maybe its fate, telling us we should have dated years ago…or rather, that we always dated.”
“Sorry for cheating on you from time to time then…but you knew about my girlfriends.” Tomohisa said with a serious face but he could see the laugh in his eyes.
“I am shocked!” He acted along.
“What can I do to make you forgive me?”
“Sleep over tonight?”
“Maybe you are not mean after all…you are too forgiving.”
He couldn’t help but smile and received an honest and pure smile in return.
“Merry Christmas Tomo.”
“Merry Christmas Ryo-chan.”
Omake!
Tiredly, he lifted his head from the pillow because of the annoying noise that penetrated his ears. Where was his phone?
He would kill who ever was calling him on Christmas morning. A little he envied Tomohisa, who was curled up to him and didn’t even stir. The other was apparently too used to noises.
The offending little machine was lying on his nightstand and his brows moved together and looked like thundery clouds as he saw who was calling him at six in the morning. Jin was better prepared to die.
“Jin…” He growled into his phone.
“Since when are you and Pi dating? I am hurt. Why did I have to find out through the press?”
“We found out about your marriage through the press…” He mumbled into the phone and lied back down.
“…” That made Jin speechless…since really, what could he say against that?
“Wait…you found out through the press?” Suddenly he was alerted and bright awake.
“There are pictures of the two of you hugging and failing on an ice-rink. I am not stupid and can put one and one together.”
He sighed relieved.
“If it’s only that…”
“Let’s go on a double date once in a while, okay?”
“And who baby-sits for you?” He asked with a lifted eyebrow and petted gently the brown mop of hair that stuck out of the blanket next to him.
“Well damn…”
