Hiya! Lots of stuff has happened, and much of it is geekish. SO, I figured I'd take a seperate entry and put that stuff in here. So, if you were interested, you could read it. And if not, well, you don't have to.
Anyway, I'm gonna break it up by catagories and give it some cuts so it's easier on the eyes and such and whatever it is that bothers people when there aren't LJ Cuts.
Spider-Man 3: The BRIEF Review
Caution, this does contain spoilers.
So, I took some of my busy time today and went and saw Spider-Man 3. Personally, I thought it was the best one. Hands down. And I don't say that just as a Spider-Man fan or a Marvel fan. I say that as an average movie go-er.
The fights, were as usual, amazing. The story itself was fairly well constructed. Especially since I had my doubts when you throw in so many plot devices, like three villians. The movie had a bit of everything for everyone, including dance numbers and a song or two. And the ending bit where New Goblin and Spider-Man team up to take down Sandman and Venom had me almost cheering.
Now, that isn't to say that it was perfect. I did have a few complaints. But they're pretty small, admitingly. One of them was the simple fact that with three villians competing for screen time, it feels like each one gets very little screen time, or at least not as much as they deserve. Especially poor Venom, who really is only there for the last...half hour...of the movie. Though it was a glorious half hour. Anyway, whereas the previous two really had only Doc Ock and Green Goblin to contend with, now we have Sandman, Venom and NEW Goblin. So, it gets kinda hard to keep them all in there.
My next complaint is with Gwen Stacey. Sure, she's important in the comics. Sure, she's easy on the eyes. But was she NECESSARY? It almost seems like she was more of an afterthought in the movie's script. Her part, except for serving as love tension between Parker, her, Mary Jane, and Eddie Brock, is almost non-existant. And since, to my knowledge, she and Brock never dated in the comics, couldn't she have just as easily been replaced with another character?
My final complaint is with the costumes. They're not bad mind you, just...minor nit picks on my part. 1. Spider-Man's black costume was awesome, but was it truly necessary for Pete to change his own outfits and hair? It's like he became "Emo Spider-Man" which is more or less what I have now dubbed the Symbiote suit. 2. Venom was amazing. But I was kinda annoyed that most of the time he choose to talk, the mask melted away and Eddie spoke. It wasn't a big deal, but I liked it when Venom talked. 3. New Goblin?! WHAT THE CRAP?! The idea was cool, but why couldn't they have just stuck to the comics and made Harry's Green Goblin costume more like his Pop's? I mean, yes, the Movie Goblin looked like some sorta demented Power Ranger. But at least it looked like a Goblin, instead of some sort of Surfer-Ninja-Jet Pilot. But then again, that more or less can traced back to my problem with the Goblin Costume(s) as a whole.
Anyway, those complaints are pretty minor, and didn't really detract from my enjoyment of the movie. Soo...go see it.
Brief side note. This summer is a good movie summer. There's quite a bit to go see coming out soon. Here's what I'm excited about;
-Transformers
-Surf's Up
-Hot Fuzz (which is already out)
-Shrek the Third
-28 Weeks Later
-That hard to prounounce Pixar movie
Game's to look out for
The Wii is getting a swarm of big games that are coming out in 07. Here's what I'm excited about and why.
Mario Strikers Charged: Basically, it's the same insane Mario Strikers game I loved for the GCN, but better graphics, more characters, and better arenas. PLUS Online play. Which means I can play Paul or Mark or Godfry or whomever via the internet. Ain't technology something?
NiGHTS: Journey into Dreams: I was too young to appreciate NiGHTS when I first played it, but I know a good game when I see one. And I am pretty excited about this one. It's gonna have the same awesome gameplay, along with WiiConnect features, and will even use the weather channel to change the levels around.
Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games: It's Mario. And Sonic. 'Nuff said.
Super Mario Galaxy: Well, it's being made by the same geniuses who made DK Jungle Beat, it looks amazing, and it's Mario 64...in space. This more or less equates to awesome.
Smash Bros. Brawl: Oh, there's nothing special about this. Just the sequel to one of the funnest and most successful fighting game franchises of all time. With wi-fi play. Nothin' special at all.
Project H.A.M.M.E.R.: Grant you, it doesn't sound like it's going to be the next Final Fantasy, but you beat up robots. With a giant friggin' hammer. I don't care who you are, that equates to fun.
Day of Crisis: Well, it looks and sounds like RE, but instead of zombies, ya got loonies and the forces of nature to contend with. Huh. Sounds like it's worth it from this angle.
RE: Umbrella Chronicles: It sounds like a cool idea, and it's gonna have an original story taking place between 1 and 2. Not too shabby eh?
No More Heroes: I think this is coming out in 2007 anyway. It looks like a cool game, even though I wasn't too fond of Killer 7. But how can you say no to story involving a kid buying lightsabers off of eBay?
Treasure Island Z: Well, besides being associated with a literary masterpiece, it's a mini-game/adventure...about pirates. Anime pirates. With hooky things. Plus, mini-games on the Wii are usually pretty good. Usually...
One Piece: Unlimited Adventure: It's One Piece...but with Zelda gameplay and amazing graphics. Plus a vs. mode that is akin to Grand Battle. It's a must have for a One Piece fan like myself.
And in addition to those, there are some DS games that have me interested.
-Heroes of Mana
-Rune Factory: A Fantasy Harvest Moon
-Touch the Dead
-Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword
-FF:CC: Ring of Fates
-Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
Okay, that's enough of that. Be good friends. Take care.
