One thing that didn't make it into the tutorial (but which is now there), is this:
About the awesome Yuletide Rare Fandoms Tag Set:
The Yuletide Tag Set provides the structure for everything; the fandoms and characters in the tag set will be the only ones available to offer or request. The tag set starts at zero, with nothing in it, and will be built entirely off the nomination process. This applies not just to fandoms, but also to characters: the only characters that will be available are the ones that get nominated (and approved).
As indicated in the tutorial, you will be able to add more characters to a reviewed&accepted fandom that you nominated if 1) you didn't originally add four, and 2) you can double-click on non-reviewed tags to edit them. (As with fandoms, if a character has been reviewed and accepted, it's then locked in across nominations and can't be changed/edited.)
Note: the auto-search that starts when you type a character or fandom name will be coming from the overall AO3 tag set, even though not all those fandoms/characters may be available in the Yuletide Tag Set.
Sign-ups are also changing a bit. You will still be able to offer to write "Any" characters, which will include all characters in the Yuletide 2011 Tag Set, but you won't be able to request "Any". You will have to specify at least one character for each fandom you request. Of course, you will still be able to indicate in your optional details that you'd be happy with any nominated characters!
This will enable us to resolve one of the thornier issues we deal with every year, when someone requests "Any", but then uses the optional details to specify characters in a limiting way, or to ask for characters that weren't nominated, and is then matched to an author who only offered specific characters. While optional details are optional, it's very difficult to be faced with a request that you can't fulfill the way your recipient wants, and that sometimes specifically rejects the characters you actually offered.
