the pool
Yesterday, Nick and I went swimming at his apartment. It was already getting dark, and we decided to brave the cold water. To help with our pansiness, we chugged a couple of beers, and filled travel cups with our "soda" of choice. His was newcastle, mine was rolling rock. We had a wonderful time splashing around, buzzed, and completely happy. Then, at about 6, the sky darkened, and out of nowhere, it began to sprinkle. I went back to the apartment to get more "soda" and decided i needed vodka before heading back to the pool. I chugged a large glass of vodka, cranberry. I filled a third container with a drink for nick, and headed back downstairs, three cups of liquid in tow. I was feeling pretty fucked up by the time i passed his manager and her three small children...pretty sure she noticed my travel cup which was now bubbling over the top with carbonation. After i hit the water once again, it really started to pour. I dont know about you, But I love the feeling of being outside in the rain, no plans to follow through with, just existing. I was definitely drunk by this time. Suddenly, we noticed that the rain was really hurting us as it pelted down its fury upon us. Being drunk and retarded, we finally realized that we were being hailed on. These were not large hailstones but they still hurt like hell.. One got me in the eye. I didnt want to get out. It was so beautiful being in there in the rain.... I remember babbling about how all this beauty was being wasted and that our children would never know this feeling. One day, there would no longer be raindrops or swimming pools or undainted frollickings of love....or some other emotional bullshit. I also think i cried a little but im a sentimental fuck..so that's no surprise. We eventually got out of the pool as the hail got larger and more furious. We ran, laughing back to the apartment.....where upon our arrival, we stood out on the deck...getting soaked, laughing, and drinking more beer. I don't think i was dry for hours, but i had the best time ive had in a long time, and i wanted to share it with my homies :)
