We got one of the maids that we had before, who had to leave because her dad died, back. She can cook, is energetic, and also just came from a very bad employer. :| I am hopeful this one will stay for a long time. Apparently, my mother likes her enough to buy recipe books for her to try, so here's to hoping.
Yesterday, when I picked the maid up (some place far, far away), I was waiting for her to appear from the flat that she was working for when this demented old lady started screaming at me.
Her: CHILD OF THE DEMON BLAH BLAH UNFAMILIAR LOCAL DIALECT *POINT POINT AT YUKEH*
Me: ??
Her: *continues*
Me: :|
Her: *CONTINUE*
Me: :|
Her: *CONTINUEEEEE*
Me: *stare* :|
For ten minutes. wtf.
I finally read Temeraire book five, Victory of Eagles, on e-book. We're still waiting for book five to come out here, but so far... nope. None. Nada. I don't want to buy the hardbound, so I guess more waiting for me. : <
All in all, I may be fonder of book five over all the other books, except maybe for the first book. Book five had a lot of death and bloodshed and some gore and more death -- to my count, about thirty thousand men dead, plus dragons, plus navy ships -- yet I also think that out of all of the author's books for the series, this was also the most well balanced one. Apart from the first. Aaaaaaaaaaaa, I have no words, I really loved reading book 5. :'DDDDDD
I think book 5 had the heaviest plot so far out of all five books, what with France invading English shores and actually succeeding, occupying London and pillaging the rest of England. And then there was Laurence's despair, and his impending execution following him around through the whole book, and the Laurence equivalent of breaking down, i.e., crying in front of Tharkay. Yet, somehow, the book also had the most lulzy moments compared to the other books. I think this is because there was a lot of parts from Temeraire's point of view in the book, and Temeraire's view is always refreshing, especially after a spiel of duty and consequences and sacrifices. Temeraire was also with a lot of dragons -- the new dragons are trufax funny, especially Perscitia, and not in the way Izkierka is annoying. : |
Apart from Temeraire, though, Jane was also trufax pwnage. sandhasjkdghskadgh JANE~~~ I love the women in this series. They're all so kickass, even down to Laurence's mother. The men were not so bad, either -- I found a new man to like: Wellseley. You will know why I like him when you read it. So read it.
Overall, I think the tone of the book was more quiet the others, although I may just be imagining it. I really felt bad for Temeraire when he thought Laurence was dead, and Laurence, when he kept on putting himself in damnation's way. WHY A MARTYR? Hnnngh, his family. TAT;;; Also, I feel bad for Granby. His dragon is super annoying. And all the dead men, although I am glad no one from the people we particularly knew died this time. NO MORE NAVY askdhkasjd whaaaaaaaaaaaaat, what was that!!!
Ahem.
Also! Finally saw Oofuri 66, though not read it, because I cannot read Japanese. : | Hahaha, Nishiura shenanigans, how I missed you so! I still keep on wondering why Hanai was wearing a shower cap in the pool when he didn't have hair in the first place. : < Is that really how it's done in real pools? I never noticed. ALSO, SLEEPING BOYS~~~ ♥ It was cute how they all just sprawled in the same place. XD And the leg hair! Hnnngh. The detailed that I really liked, though, was how Tajima was always more muscular than Mihashi, but also shorter.
Haruna's flaaaaaaaaat! Haruna and Akimaru living in the same place makes me warm all over, hahahaha. Also, finally saw ARC, huh! I missed the dude with the eyebrow. Forgot his name! Sob. Ootawara? It's been so long since I edited that part in the lottery for raep. I wonder if Musashino will win against them.
Crrrrry, when will TWG end? I suspect that the seer is not who she says she is.
callais, I'm sorry I voted you out. : ( It's okey, if you are really innocent, there will be justice!
