Oneshot: Her Field of Vision
Miura Haruma takes his spot next to his best friend, Sato Takeru. They are position themselves for the making of the music video with the rest of Team Amuse. This single will hopefully raise fund to help the victims of the Tohoku earthquake a month earlier. Team Amuse consists of his agency's most popular performers and artists. That's why, he felt incredibly blessed to be chosen to participate in this massive collaboration. Another reason is that two of his best friends, Sato Takeru and Kamiki Ryunosuke, are also selected to participate.
As he exchange some greetings and small talks to the people around him, the corner of his eyes noticed a familiar figure walking in the studio door. His face wearing a shy smile as he looks around to see if there is someone he knows.
"There’s Ryu." Haruma whispered excitedly to Takeru, who is standing next to him. He just shrugs and directs his attention to the younger boy.
"Ryu! Over here!" Haruma yelled and wave excitedly.
Hearing his name called, Kamiki looks up and his face lit up as he recognizes the caller. He made his way across the room but stop short as something, or rather, someone catches his attention. Shyly, he took his spot near them, beside a senior in their company. It was just a person away from Takeru, but to Haruma, it's not near enough.
"Come over!" Haruma instructs as he points to Fukuyama-san, who is just inches away in front of him. "You can stand next to me." Haruma knows Kamiki's a big fan, so he knows Kamiki would do anything to be near his idol. But instead, with obvious yearning eyes, Kamiki shakes his head.
This time, seeing the awkwardness in her position, the senior turns to Kamiki with a kind voice, "Do you want to switch place?"
Like before, Kamiki once again shakes his head with an apologetic smile.
"What's wrong with Ryu?" Haruma whispered to Takeru, obviously confused with his friend's strange behavior. Instead of agreeing with him like Haruma has hoped, Takeru just throws a quick glance at Kamiki's direction before the corner of his mouth curved up to a small smirk.
"Just leave him alone for now." Takeru simply said. Before Haruma could argue back, the dance instructor quickly called them in order and speak to them about the para para dance that they are about to do as well as the song.
A few times during the course of the making of the music video, Haruma steal glances in Kamiki’s direction, only to find the younger boy being way too happy than he should as he’s dancing and singing to the song. Haruma’s eyes meet Takeru’s with a questioning expression, but Takeru keeps his silent.
After the commemorative photo together with Team Amuse, they were finally let go. While their seniors are quick to invite each other to have a drink, Haruma pulls Takeru toward Kamiki, determined to find out about his friend's too strange behavior, even for someone like Kamiki.
"What's wrong?" Haruma asked, a hurtful tone in his voice.
"I'm sorry." Kamiki replied, "It's just..."
"Why? Tell us a reason!" Haruma demanded, "First you didn't want to stand next to us. Next you were all excited during the shoot. You're weird today."
Hearing the comments of his friend, Kamiki's face blush a deep shade of red. Next to them, Takeru just laughs.
"What's so funny?" Haruma turns to Takeru, it's obvious Takeru knew something but doesn't tell him.
Wiping the tears from the corner of his eyes, Takeru simply said, "Just wait until the music video is out on the news, and you'll know."
Haruma turned back to Kamiki, only to find the younger boy's face is as red as a tomato. Thinking that Takeru might be right, Haruma finally agrees to let it go... For now…
A few days later, with the making of the music video playing for Team Amuse all over the news station, Haruma almost forgotten about the incident.
Coming to the agency to meet up with his manager, he spots Takeru and Kamiki together. Takeru was saying something to Kamiki, while the young boy shyly nodded, his face brimming with happiness. Before he’s able to call to them, Kamiki was already called away by his manager about his new drama, "Koukousei Restaurant".
"What's up with him?" Catching up to Takeru, Haruma asked.
"Mayuko-chan sent him a message, complimenting him about the music video." Takeru answering, "Oh, she said she's going to buy the single when it's out."
"That's great." Haruma is happy with the news of the sale, "But who's Mayuko-chan?"
"I don't think you've ever work with her before, Fukuda Mayuko." Takeru shrugs.
"Ah, that dark girl in your drama?" Haruma asked, his mind slowly formed an image. Kamiki has mentioned the girl frequently, and recently, Takeru as well.
"Yes, and she's not dark." Takeru sighs.
Haruma nods as he realized his rude remark, "But why does that make him happy?"
"You must not know Mayuko-chan much." Takeru shakes his head, "She's very... spacey, or rather, she’s very in her own world. If thing doesn't interest her then she doesn't care."
"And?"
"And she really likes Porno Graffiti-san."
"So?"
"So the people she probably noticed right away from our group shot are Porno Graffiti-san."
"So what?"
"Don't you remember who stood right behind them?"
As if a light bulb turn on next to his head, Haruma gave a long ahhhh before continues, “So do you mean Ryu was refusing standing next us was in order to be near Porno Graffiti-san. But so what? If he's next to us, he'll still be in the picture."
"But it's not close enough." Takeru sighs, it's obvious to him Haruma didn't get it. "I sent her a message earlier today asking if she's going to help support us. Do you know what she said?"
Haruma shakes his head.
"She asked me if I'm in it..." Displeasure is apparent in his voice.
"Wait, but you were standing so close to them."
"But not close enough. Get it now?"
Haruma slowly nods, in his head wondering how strange this girl is...
"Wait a minute, does that mean she doesn't know who I am?"
"Yes, pretty much."
"That's not… right!!" before he knows it, his voice is already raised causing a few others to turn their way, "But... I'm... I'm standing in the almost middle... What? How?"
Patting his back, Takeru just chuckles.
"That's Mayuko-chan for you."
This is probably what she sees.
