fukumimi DVD review

Mar 11, 2007 02:41

I haven't even watched the SMAP dvds I bought, but I finished watching the fukumimi dvd and I thought I should write a review on it.
The DVD was a live fukumimi collaboration with Takayuki Hattori. There are only the first 3 fukumimi members in it, which are Kyoko, Yamazaki Masayoshi and Suga Shikao. The whole show was really grand and atmospheric, I felt as if I were in the hall inself. I'm sure it would be eveb nicer if I watched it with two decent stereo speakers...

Here's the tracklist for the dvd... Credits goes to Kay for providing me with them. Thank you!

Overall, the performances were really superb. I really liked Kyoko's voice. There is a husky quality to it unlike other singers. [Ningyo Hime~forget me not~] and [HALNAIM] were especially good. I have never heard any of her songs before, so this is my first time. Kyoko was also really friendly during the talks, either with her bandmates or the audience. You get a feeling that she's a motherly and kind person.

Suga Shikao's performances were the best among the three, but I may be biased... But I dare anyone who is not a fan to watch it and tell me that Suga Shikao's singing was bad... You just gotta admit that his voice is just so easy to listen to. He may not have awesome vocal chords but at least he's not nasal. He sang the full versions for every song except [19sai], if memory serves me right.

Yamazaki Masayoshi's performances were also good. I liked his voice too, it was deep and well, nice, but the songs didn't really made an impression on me; save for [Hoshi ni Negai wo] and [One more time, One more chance]. [One more time, One more chance] is definitely my favorite song of all time, topping even some of Suga's songs. There is just something so powerfully emotional about this song.

At the end, before they sang [Miagete Goran Yoru no Hoshi wo] together, there was a long talk segment and Suga Shikao did something really random... or was it? Anyway, it was really funny and his interaction with his bandmates always show a different side of him. I could see they love being together because they had fun.

Besides the perfomances, there was a short behind-the-scenes video. Most of it is about the three of them talking. In the interview at the end, their conversation seemed really funny, the three of them kept laughing, but unfortunately for my limited japanese understanding, I totally did not get it...

That's all for the review!
