Coming Full Circle
Part 3.2
Leo would forever be indebted to the Portuguese for dragging him from home, where he would no doubt still be wallowing in self pity had he stayed. He wasn't happy, couldn't be so soon, but at least he wasn't suppressing his feelings completely. That was not healthy and would help in no way, as Filipa, Simão's wife kept remind him as she urged him to not be shy and have seconds. Little Martim and Mariana loved Uncle Leo, trying to engage him in games and plays and by the end of the second day he was tired, but content. Which was why he agreed to go with Simão and Luis Figo to the Champions League Final and watch Benfica play Manchester United. Apparently, if Benfica won ("It's in the bag, Leo!" Simão assured him enthusiastically as they made their way to the VIP booth, Figo shaking his head, amused) there was to be a party of giant proportions and Leo was more than welcome to join.
As they watched the game, Leo felt himself grow more and more relaxed, not even the itch to jump to the field and chase the ball enough to upset him. Not even when people realised who he was and he had appeared on the big screen for nearly two whole minutes had his good spirits wavered. The only thing that made the evening less then perfect were the 4 near-goals the English team but Benfica began the second part making up for the them by finally getting the advantage with an amazing shot by Di Maria. The game was actually a bit anti-climatic after that because Angel managed to make a hat-trick that had even Leo off his feet and whooping in joy. In the end, even the Manchester players had to admit the other team had played better.
As they made their way towards the locker rooms, Simão gave him a one-armed hug, excited to introduce Leo to his friends. The Argentinian couldn't help but feel like something was about to change.
