On the Perils of Small Schools

Had advising this morning. Was productive. Will sign up May 30.

Fifteen credits. Frig. WTF was I thinking? Haven't successfully taken more than ten credit hours in a single quarter, ever. Tried once, failed every class I was enrolled in miserably. Tried a second time, failed two of the three I was enrolled in. So my track record? It's not good.

Honestly, it's more of a necessity thing than anything. Two of the courses are only offered Fall Quarter this academic year. Could, theoretically, put off one and take it next fall. Would prefer not to, however, as I should be graduating about this time next year if all goes well.

On the bright side, one of the instructors is one that I've had before and he's quite good. I took a business class from him last quarter and scored a 3.2 with it. My only concern is that it's an online course and that's yet another thing I have a less than ideal track record with. The other one is a Payroll/Taxes course which tacks on nicely to the Accounting course I'm taking this quarter.

The rest is all culinary arts, so I'm rather excited about that. It's been a really long time since I've actually looked forward to tackling anything, so it's quite a novel experience. I'm not entirely sure where I'll go from there, whether I'll stay here in Washington or move south to Oregon with my grandmother. A lot of that depends on whether or not the job market here improves or tanks even further. What will be, will be. Stressing myself out won't change anything, so I'm going to put that aside for right now.

school's in session, blah blah blah
