Well, dad's chemo actually did something and shrank his tumors. He had surgery on the 16th to remove the one from his rectum and he is in the hospital in recovery now. He has a colostomy bag now, he'll either have it fr the next 6 months until his next surgery, or if they can't reattach everything he'll have it for the rest of his life. The doctor says that if he eats too quickly he could cause his brain to think there is a blockage in his intestine, so his brain would send tons of fluid to flush the blockage, which would actually propel the colostomy bag off his body. It could very well be fatal if this happens. So we all have to be prepared to keep an eye on him and be ready to call 911 at the slightest notice. It is very scary.
I guess when you have surgery blood pools in your stomach and it has to come out. So he is barfing up blood a lot. It's pretty gross and disturbing. It's very strange because you can tell he's embarrassed because he gets it all over the front of his gown. It's very odd to see him so helpless.
I move on the 6th of July and I am very nervous about leaving him. He doesn't have much time left even if the chemo is extremely successful. There really is just no good way to cure liver cancer. I am so torn. I want to move out of here so badly but I don't want to be so far away.
I have so much to do I am so stressed out.
If anyone is interested in getting together for dinner sometime within the next week let me know. I'd like to see as many people as I can before I head on out of the state.
I guess I should go to bed so I can go to work and then go to the hospital...
