Defeated the Elite 4 of Kalos on Tuesday while Dad had a business call and asked us all not to use the internet. Can I just say I love the architecture?

My Pokes:
- Briar the Chesnaut
- Hitori the Talonflame
- Jing the Linoone
- Pow Pow Picard the Blastoise (Mega-capable)
- Merlin the Gardevoir
- Becquerel the good dog best friend Lucario (Mega-capable)

The Elites themselves were quite tough-- I didn't know anything about Aegislash's offensive/defensive forms, so the Steel-user almost managed to KO Hitori before I switched. The Water-user got a nasty combo by using Starmie to set Light Screen up for a switch to Gyarados-- my only Poke with an Electric attack was Merlin, who cannot handle prolonged combat.

The Champion was only a disappointment in that I'd called it in Coumarine City. The battle was excellent. I'd been wanting a Goomy ever since I first saw them (SO ADORABLE. SO ADORABLE), and now I've seen how straight up tough Goodra can be (and still SO ADORABLE), so I want it even more.

On the other hand, the Champion also used a Mega-Gardevoir... I was not impressed. I've always preferred the interpretation that Gardevoir is a bizarre spirit that only looks humanoid because we see it that way, especially since it's not in the humanoid breeding groups. Let's just say Mega-Gardie doesn't really abide by that view, and leave it at that. I will grant that it was a really tough Pokemon to fight, though.

The final cutscene: I... metaphorically died. I'd asked not to be spoilered by anybody as much as possible, and this moment made all that completely worth it. Completely not expecting that to happen, in the best way possible. That's all I'll say. except that I still just want to hug him

The end credits were lovely, a sequence of woodcut or sketched images describing items and badges from the game. I thought the idea was similar to some of the Miyazaki movies' intro credits, which is not a bad thing IMHO. There were also scrolling sing-along lyrics for the music, and I considered singing along but Dad was still on the phone.

In other news, I've sort of been sticking to Peaceful on Minecraft, because I tried Easy once and got pushed into water and drowned by zombies, which is a lot scarier in first person. I tried Easy again last night, and got shot up by skeletons, THEN pushed into water by zombies. This time I managed to swim away from that area, but I lost most of my wood and food and was already at half health and down on hunger and subsequently was not in a good shape the next night when things spawned again... yeah.

Quoth a friend: It's ironic that you're scared of Minecraft on Easy... when you already play Dwarf Fortress which doesn't have any difficulty settings except "you're all gonna die".
