Experiment in homebrewing gira (kvass to you other formerly-Soviet countries) has proven surprisingly successful. A bit pale, a bit cloudy, and a bit too much sugar, but for a first-timer that kind of thing is to be expected, and the taste is still about right for some of the restaurants I had gira at.

I also have some truly nonalcoholic options for the parents when they arrive. Iced tea, milk, coffee, hot tea (though why you'd want hot tea in the middle of Texas mid-summer is beyond me, see icon for details), and Kool-aid. They can use the future roomie's bedroom for their air mattress and bathroom for their sanitary needs, the ice machine is off, and I should have enough money to be able to treat them at Steak and Shake if they're hungry after the drive up here, though them being my 'rents I imagine they'd probably have stopped someplace en route for dinner.

Why do I still feel like I'm missing something? I've et, I have delicious beverages and toast enough to tide me over until tomorrow, the personal indulgences are hidden away...

ETA: Parents approve of the gira. <3
