LOL SCP interviews and performances were awesome! They really have a lot of crack stories. And I'm so happy about Kaze no Mukou e ♥ I was always complaining why we don't have more Kaze no Mukou e performances on TV xD

The members who are rich with personalities gathered and Arashi debuted in November 1999. Their debut song A・RA・SHI is a big hit of which sales reach over 950000. And after that, their continously produced hit songs, and in 2007 they were also succeed with their first group concert in Tokyo Dome. Tonight, all members of that Arashi will appear. As Arashi, they will talk about various happenings that became their turning point, the members' current relationship, and such. And also, in premium show, they will present 3 songs; Beautiful Days, Kaze no Mukou e, and Truth.

Z: Yayyy~ We ask for your favor.
S: Good evening.
T: You're amazing huh, currently. Surely no joke. Most people would nod approvingly to Sakurai-kun's news program, right!

S: I said that. I entered the company, and the first one was V6's concert. Then, at the rehearsal the company president said "Hey YOU! Dance behind him!" (note: company president is Johnny. "him" means Ohno). So I thought, that kid will become the example. So I got the impression that he was someone who's good at dancing.
N: I see.
T: Umm... then who said "He picked his nose without doing the dance practice"?

N: I did. After I did the audition, I was called for a kind of lesson on the next Sunday. And all the Juniors were dancing there. But only one person was on the couch. Eventhough everyone else were dancing, this one kept picking his nose, keep being like this. Picking his nose while looking at everyone who were dancing. Then, at that time, our eyes met each other, and since then we kept... how long was it I wonder... I think it was probably for around 30 seconds, while looking he kept picking his nose. So I thought that this guy was probably not a Junior.
O: He thought I was a staff.
T: Is that so?
N: That's right. Because he wasn't dancing, you see. Everyone were dancing, but only him wasn't dancing.
T: I wonder why he was permitted to do that.
N: I think somehow there was that kind of situation at that time.
S: There was huh.
M: Since long ago, somehow only him always treated differently.
S: This happened once. There was a kind of rehearsal, and Ohno-kun did something. Then the choreography teacher got so angry.
O: Umm... was it about shoes?
N: It was about shoes, probably.
O: There was this kind of basketball shoes as part of the costume. I asked confirmation from the manager, whether is it alright wearing that. Because he told me "Sure, it's fine" I always wore that. Then the choreographer said to me "Ohno, you're wearing the wrong shoes, aren't you!". But because I was told by the manager that it's fine, I always ignore him.
T: You shouldn't have ignored him!
M: It'd be fine if he told the choreographer right. Such as "I'm wearing it because I was told that it's okay". But he didn't say that. Nothing but continuing ignoring him.

O: Even when he shouted "Ohno! Ohno! Ohno~!!" at me, I kept ignoring him because I thought it doesn't matter. Then, the Junior next to me suddenly did this. *shielding pose* When I was wondering what was he doing, somehow a coffee can flew towards me. Because I look downwards I didn't know.
T: And since that time, a person called "Ohno-kun" was famous as an amazing person.
M: He's amazing. The one I remembered was, when he got told something like "Ohno, do you even have the will to do this? If you don't, then go home!", he really went home.
T: Ah, for this, it's the same type as Sakamoto-kun huh.

N: At that time, somehow Johnny-san bought us beef ricebowl.

N: He bought it for us. And, at that time the juniors who entered at the same time with me were around, so I ate with them. Then we clean up and went to the show. When I was waiting at a kind of lobby, he was really irritated. When I was wondering what's up with him, he totally stared and came walking to where I was. He said "If your mates didn't clean the bento boxes, then you have to clean them!!" He was pissed off like mad.
T: Then what do you think about it?
N: I thought, this person is so irrational...
T: That's right huh.
M: It's like there were mines at various places, back then. He totally had that kind of image.

S: You see, I really hate it if the trash were not cleaned.
M: At the toilet's faucet, at the hand-washing place, if there's someone who throw cup ramen there, he would ask "Who did this!?" and even go as far as searching the culprit.

S: At that time, about how I got angry over people who not cleaning their trash, it was because I thought that they have to take care of things they're responsible for. A: Me! When I first came, I was like this and there was no one who entered at the same time as me. At free period, I was waiting at the back side, then probably because Matsujun was close around, he somehow came to me and said "You must have had no idea of some things around, don't you? I'll tell you about it". It was amazing, how he said things promptly. I feel like he did everything for me.
M: I don't remember that at all.
T: You must have been glad. He's a senpai, and you had no idea about things.
A (overlap): I was glad.
N (overlap): Because he's a senior as well.
A: I really remember he saying that kind of thing when I understood nothing. Eventhough his posture was small, his prompt way make up for it.

N: Let's hear about it.

S: So according to Aiba-san's equation, if someone is small then he wouldn't speak promptly?
A: That's right. I think the image of him who's small yet so prompt is amazing!
T: That's why it left impression on you, right.
A: It left impression on me.
T: He seemed to be prompt, and the next one as well. "Dancing with utmost effort". It's related, right.

N: I said this one. We were participating in Coming Century's, V6's event at all star season opening ceremony.
M (overlap): Ah, we did.
T (overlap): Ah, baseball opening ceremony.
N: At the all star baseball competition, we participated in a kind of season opening ceremony. The song was "Daijoubu". Everyone was casually "Ah, soon it'll start huh~". Everyone was like this, casually having conversation. But Jun-kun, only him was always in this pose. For around 1 minute, he kept being in this pose.
T: How diligent!
M: It was something like that indeed.
N: That's right.
T: What did you feel when you were waiting, I wonder. Inside Matsujun.

Then, eventually we arrived, and then we knew that he's a new kid.

O: I remember that as well. I wondered who was he. I did guess that he's a new kid, but I was more interested in Sho-kun...

O: Well, he was very tiny, you see. And he came bringing a suitcase. The suitcase was much larger than him. I kept being interested in why he brought a suitcase that large.
T: So you mean that you're more interested in that compared to a new Junior?
O: Yes.

T: Well then, next is this. We have each of the members telling the important jobs or happening that became a turning point for Arashi in these 10 years. First, let's take a look at Ohno-kun's. "Debuted with A・RA・SHI in November 1999".

O: That's right. I was told to help recording or something, so I just went thinking that it's not big matter at all, and then I found this A・RA・SHI written. I thought "Ahh, it's this kind of song huh". Then, I sang it but I totally didn't expect that it's debut song. Sort of, I was wondering whether this song would sell or not.
T: You did ask. Whether it'll be something like debut song.
O: I totally thought that it wouldn't sell.
M: And then?
O: Because it did sell well, I thought "Ah, I don't understand this world".
N: He kept saying that he wanted to quit. He kept saying that he wanted to work at the convenience store.
T: Why did you choose convenience store amongst various jobs available?
O: Somehow it was my aspiration back then. It's not the case now though.
N: I was also slow in realizing it. I was doing it for around 2 months at that time. I answered "Ohno-kun, it's better if you say this to the company, not to me."

N: Yes, I was also slow.

N: So it became like "Ah, I see, I see" kind of conversation, and somehow it turned out like this.
T: But I think there's this thing... Previously I heard from Matsujun, I think. Somehow, amongst the members there are guys who weren't so into it.
M: Honestly, my impression was that amongst the five of us, 3 people had negative view.
T: Who are they?
N: Who is it!?
M: Those two there, and Sho-kun.
T: Eh? Sho-kun?
N: Around 1999, I told the company president in January. I said I'll quit in December.
T: Eh? Is that so? You wanted to quit?
N: I wanted to quit.
T: Why did you want to quit?
N: I was thinking I'd become a director.
T: Eh? For stageplay?
N: For stageplay. Become a stageplay director.
T: How old were you?
N: I was 16.
T: You wanted to become a director at 16?
N: I thought I'd become a director. Because it's fun. I got the chance to act in a stageplay. I did it around this period.

S: You were also acting in dramas, weren't you?

N: That's right. I got the chance to act several times in dramas. That's why I thought that path seemed fun as well.

S: Me as well, I was going to enter college in the next year, in 2000. So I thought I'd quit when I entered college.
M: Everyone did think they're going to quit.
S: Quitting Johnny's Jr. In September I had debut interview as Arashi. Around July, in the middle of exam period I had a bit of holiday, unexpectedly the company president directly called my cellphone. He said "You'll become the image character of World Cup."
T: The volleyball, right?
S: That's right, that's right. He said, "Won't you do it?". He said, "Ninomiya and Matsumoto are also going to do it". So I was told like "So won't the three of you do it?". So I was thinking, "Well well, after the volleyball ends, after around 1 month passes, maybe around December I'll quit". So I answered "Okay I'll do it". But somehow after that gradually the circumstances became strange. Ohno-kun was called to the recording too. Then, moving forward, some time before the interview in Hawaii, Aiba was also called. Then, before it was decided for those two, so... when it was still Matsumoto-Nino-me, Nino stayed the night at my place. We kind talk like "It doesn't look good if it kept going like this, we might get debuted..."
T: That should be the place where you should be happy, right?
M: Normally, right?
N: Well, it was the atmosphere, I think. The atmosphere was like that.
S: Surely after debut we can't say that we want to quit, right?
N: We can't.
S: Because originally we already thought we wanted to quit, it became like that.
N: "If we want to quit, we'd better say it now."

S: So it became "Okay, I got it! Come to stay at my place! Tomorrow let's go to the president's house." We were going to talk directly to him.
N: We decided the two of us would go together.

Something like "Because the groups with alphabet names already continued coming out, it'd be good if we use a Japanese-like name since now" was written there.

S: So we came home with our tension dropped. Then, somehow our surroundings moved so fast. And then there's Ohno, Aiba... a lot of talks keeps coming out. When we realized it, we're already at Hawaii.
N: So we arrived, the two of us. At the moment when he arrived, while looking at the Hawaii sky he said "This will be my last time at Hawaii huh~"
T: Why?
N: I don't know. Probably, at that time he was still thinking of quitting. He thought he was still able to quit.
T: I see. So because you thought you'll quit, and you also think that you can't come to Hawaii by your own, you said that it was your last time at Hawaii.

S: There was only one song. "A・RA・SHI"
N: We were discussing what we should do.
T: I see. Just now Aiba said "You did, huh". So you didn't think that way?
A: I was quite flighty about things. I was sort of "Ah, so we're going to do it? Our first live?". Sort of, "Ah, we're going to do it huh. Alright! Let's do it!"
T: That first live. We have bits of it, so let's take a look.

I've been in Arashi for some months. I don't really know whether the path I chose is right or not. But currently, I think that I'm glad for being in Arashi.

Occasionally I took a break from work. However I'm really thankful to the fans who arrive together to this point, to a lot of my friends, to everyone in Johnny's Jr who did our best together. S: You don't know what I meant, right?
T: That was a good speech~ wasn't it! Somewhere inside you, it's there huh. Do you remember? That crying Sakurai back then.
M: I remember.
T: You remember?
M: I totally remember. Well, it's because I was up on the stage too.

N: The apologetic feeling to other Juniors was stronger. They wanted to debut. They wanted to debut so they tried their best. At first the apologetic feeling to them was very strong. Eventhough I still have the wish to quit, I thought I should do things properly for the sake of those people as well. I had that feeling.

N: I'm no good if I don't do things properly.
T: Then you did turn positive huh.
S: That's right, that's right. Truly because of that, we were glad that the fans truly came and gathered. When the five of us connected our hands and shouted "Arashi", I truly thought "Ah, the five of us are truly Arashi. Alright! Let's do it!". After all, I began to think that way after this first concert.

N: Everyone. Everyone wrote that.

N: I was totally sleepy though.
T: So did everyone speak out their opinions?
M: Well, basically it's us two huh?
N: And we seemed to be enjoying that.

N: Such as saying "I see"...
S: But if I think about it now, probably because we were uneasy we never got tired of it.
T: But surely you'd never got tired having that kind of conversation.
M: We didn't get tired.
S: And in February 2002 we had our own label, you see. Using the group's name.
T: I see. That was in 2002 huh.
S: After that, there's the movie. Arashi's first movie was also reserved. So it was like, they created the wave for us, but we weren't riding on the wave, so how would it become. So we talk about how we should do something until morning somehow.

M: Somehow, as the result of the discussion, we probably came to recognize what each members think, over and over again. After all, though we entered at the same time since long ago, it was 1999 when we were told we'd be gathered as a group. Before that time, we didn't recognize each other much. It was sudden. How should I put this. The CD debut. Hmm... who was it again... such as KAT-TUN, they debuted not when they were formed as a group, did they? It was the same case for Kinki too, so they had time, didn't they. We didn't have that sort of time. Such as, what kind of people are the others. We discover it over and over again, but it took time.

2006 First Asia tour
T: It's the first Asia Tour. So this means, for Aiba it's not an important event huh.

T: But the others chose this 2006 one.

T: What was amazing back then?
S: If I can borrow Ohno's words, probably it could be thought as our "second first-concert".
T: Ooh... Amazing huh.
S: Ohno-san, you probably haven't spoken anything for about 30 minutes, so please talk!
O: Well... Probably I've never understood it. Frankly said, we never did any work in Asia's Seoul and Taipei, right? Eventhough we only worked in Japan, but they know about us, and even came to our concert. When we were told about it, we were sort of "Eh? Seriously?". Our feelings were sort of, "Is it okay if we go there?". We were really anxious before we performed.
T: Again, you sort of expected that you don't have any fans there.
N: That's why it's our second first-concert.

N: I did. After I did the audition, I was called for a kind of lesson on the next Sunday. And all the Juniors were dancing there. But only one person was on the couch. Eventhough everyone else were dancing, this one kept picking his nose, keep being like this. Picking his nose while looking at everyone who were dancing. Then, at that time, our eyes met each other, and since then we kept... how long was it I wonder... I think it was probably for around 30 seconds, while looking he kept picking his nose. So I thought that this guy was probably not a Junior.
O: He thought I was a staff.
T: Is that so?
N: That's right. Because he wasn't dancing, you see. Everyone were dancing, but only him wasn't dancing.
T: I wonder why he was permitted to do that.
N: I think somehow there was that kind of situation at that time.
S: There was huh.
M: Since long ago, somehow only him always treated differently.
S: This happened once. There was a kind of rehearsal, and Ohno-kun did something. Then the choreography teacher got so angry.
O: Umm... was it about shoes?
N: It was about shoes, probably.
O: There was this kind of basketball shoes as part of the costume. I asked confirmation from the manager, whether is it alright wearing that. Because he told me "Sure, it's fine" I always wore that. Then the choreographer said to me "Ohno, you're wearing the wrong shoes, aren't you!". But because I was told by the manager that it's fine, I always ignore him.
T: You shouldn't have ignored him!
M: It'd be fine if he told the choreographer right. Such as "I'm wearing it because I was told that it's okay". But he didn't say that. Nothing but continuing ignoring him.

T: How did it become at the end?
O: Even when he shouted "Ohno! Ohno! Ohno~!!" at me, I kept ignoring him because I thought it doesn't matter. Then, the Junior next to me suddenly did this. *shielding pose* When I was wondering what was he doing, somehow a coffee can flew towards me. Because I look downwards I didn't know.
T: And since that time, a person called "Ohno-kun" was famous as an amazing person.
M: He's amazing. The one I remembered was, when he got told something like "Ohno, do you even have the will to do this? If you don't, then go home!", he really went home.

S: If I can borrow Ohno's words, probably it could be thought as our "second first-concert".
