Ok, I didn't write a word for 3 weeks already, it's high time to post something. A lot has happened after all.

First of all I went to visit Auris in Vienna and that was fun. A lot of fun actually. A lot of walking around the city, Vienna Uni included so I could take a pic with random philosopher statue (happened to be Karl Popper. Because Freud would be just too obvious, plus I actually don't dislike Popper). We've been to a charity market that had food stalls from all around the world, we've watched a lot of dramas and even did karaoke... all in all, it was a really fun trip. Auris, thank you once again for inviting me!

A week later I had to go to Warsaw to submit visa application, so I hopped on a train again. I thought since it was necessary for me to go there personally, it would involve some questions or at least signing a pile of papers. But it was nothing of the sort. The just collected the application and my passport and ordered me to come again in a week to pick up my visa. Again, personally. And no, they wouldn't send it via registered mail, I had to come.

So guess what, yesterday I was on a train again, heading to Warsaw to spend thrilling 3 minutes in Japanese consulate, getting the visa.

I'm trying to make myself think it was necessary and way safer than post but... the documents from Japan naturally came by registered mail. They're equally important, and somehow they did. Before Christmas, calling off Monday lessons to go somewhere for the whole day AND paying adult train tickets to Warsaw and back, and twice, kinda hurt my budget. I was gonna buy some little good-bye presents for my students but now I can forget it. That's why I feel a teeny weeny bit bitter about the whole thing. Maybe I could bake cookies?

Well, the most important thing, however, is that I safely got the visa. Now it's really only about preparing luggage.

Since I already started about the students, I'm actually getting a soubetsukai! We're going to have nabe at M-san's place. Unfortunately, Nadeshikos aren't gonna make it, since they go back to Japan a day earlier, but having the boys would probably stop them from coming anyway. The older kids may be there though. Recently met Kazu-kun included *is totally rooting for it*.

Kazu-kun: Mama, ask her if she's from Warsaw?
Kazu-kun's mum: No, she's from Torun, I told you.
me: Yup, I'm from here.
-5 mins later-
Kazu-kun: Mama, ask if she's from Hokkaido?
Kazu-kun's mum: She's from here, we already told you, right? She can speak japanese very well [o ho ho, as if, but thank you Kazu-mama] but she's from Torun. She's Polish.
Kazu-kun: She's Japanese!
me: Kazu-kun, I've never been to Hokkaido.
Kazu-kun: You're Japanese!
me *trying not to laugh*: No, I was born here. I've never been to Japan at all.
Kazu-kun: Then move to Japan!
me: I will, next month.
Kazu-kun: Move to Japan, you're Japanese so you gotta live in Japan!
Kazu-kun's mum: But I told you she's not...
Kazu-kun: Move to Japan and I'll come to visit!
me: Okay, understood. Will you really come?
Kazu-kun: I will I won't I will I won't I will I won't... (repeat to fade)
[naturally mummy was apologizing to me all the while]

Did I ever say Japanese kids don't speak to people they don't know? Surprise surprise, this one does. Plus he's totally flirty.

personal, japan, teaching polish, friends
