Because even a few months ago, finding out someone (referred to as X) had posted this about me would have totally broken my spirit.
Now i'm simply amused. Well, okay, a small part of me wants to indulge in revenge, but that part of me is small yet influential enough that all i'm going to do is post it here, chuckle over it, and feel sympathy for someone so insecure that he finds me - little old ME - to be threatening enough to smear my name in a forum i very publicly do not subscribe to.
The context: a thread about a father who killed a child molester who was in the act of breaking into his house.
P: More rapes for all, eh X?."
X: I'm sure to people like Yttrai this is a winning suggestion. I was just saying you probably won't get much traction here with this story, since according to most of the posters here sex is always a good thing, and there's no such thing as a sexual perversion."
R: Why the fuck are you bringing Yttrai into this conversation?
J1: Doing so lets him make his point, and lets him take a stab at someone.
J2: That's how douchebags roll.
D: I don't think anyone here has ever claimed that sex is always a good thing. Now, add in mutual consensus, and we might be talking, as long as there aren't issues of adultery and such.
X: I'll never pass up the chance to take a stab at someone with such loathesome thoughts in her head. People that anti-social deserve to be identified wherever possible...sorta like this guy was.
Wow. Not sure where this came from, but the last time he and i interacted it was with regards to porn at Barnes and Noble. They have some display with silly photos of housecleaning and other stereotypical "female" tasks being done by hot men, and called it Porn for Women. My feelings on why this belittles both men and women didn't even come up - i was proud of mysef :D
But i did mention that i would love for normal bookstores to carry real porn, so that it was more freely available, and he got very prudish on me. I later mentioned i'd bought erotica at Barnes and Noble, in order to vote with my dollars. A few people in our community deliberately shopped elsewhere in protest of the display. I, too, would like to protest the display, but not if it means Barnes and Noble thinks i'm anti-porn! I'm anti gender stereotyping! I love porn*!
So yeah, that's really the only thing i've done in the past year or so that makes me think he took offense. In his mind, a healthy attitude towards sex = loathsome thoughts.
Projection, anyone??
