Say hello to the world

Quintin Alexander was born on his due date, 5/17/07, at 10:52pm healthy and happy. When my contractions were consistent we ended up at the hospital at 4am and were admitted. Sometime around 8, 8:30 they broke my water. The first nurse we had kept trying to bully me into having an epidural but somehow through all the pain I was able to stick to my guns, although I did finally consent to using stadol and demerol in small doses for the stadol and one dose of the demerol. It helped a lot. The TENS unit was a wonderful thing for the back labor but didn't do too much for anything involving the front. You have never felt pain till childbirth. I don't know how I would have done it without Lowell. He was there through every contraction. Even my doctor mentioned that none of the other dads were there for thier wives like he was for me. I have said it befor, and I'll say it again, Lowell is one of the most wonderful men in the world and I am lucky to be loved by him. And what they say about the pain dissapearing as soon as you see your child for the first time is campletely true. Sure you still have a few contractions to get the rest of the junk out but as soon as you see what you were working for you realize it was all worth it. I will say that when it comes to resting after the baby is born, you just don't get any at the hospital. You constantly have nurses and doctors in and out checking on you and the baby leaving no time for you or the child to really sleep. And they don't do roomservice for the dad! Anytime Lowell was hungry he had to have his mom go get something for him because they would only send food up for me. Well, I'll post more later but I gotta go now. Lowell and I will be posting some pics on Myspace soon so if you're interested check them out.
