So yeah, baby should be here any day now. I'm excited and nervous. I'm not really nervous about the giving birth part, this may sound strange. I just think that giving birth will be like any other excruciating pain, intense when it's there and forgotten when it's gone. Every woman I have ever talked to says that when you see your child for the first time you forget the pain right away, this is a good thing, lol. I have decided to use something called a TENS unit for the pain, I really don't like the idea of an epidural and want to stay away from as many drugs as possable.
"TENS" is the acronym for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation. A "TENS unit" is a pocket size, portable, battery-operated device that sends electrical impulses to certain parts of the body to block pain signals.
My doctor suggested it and said it is widely used in Europe and is starting to make it's way here. Lowell and I did a little reading on it and it sounds pretty interesting. There are 4 women that my doctors are considering "guinea pigs" and I am one of them. One of the women we rented the TENS from suggested I strap the electrodes to Lowell and use it on him when I have a contraction saying that it would definetly distract me from the pain, lol. So I'm considering it......lol. But really, I just hope everything goes smoothly. The day of the birth will be the first time my parents and Lowells parents meet. I am a little nervous about that, but hopefully we will all be too distracted by the new arrival to be too awkward. Lowell's excited because he is going to take a week off of work when Quintin comes. He really just needs to be away from that place for a little bit befor he goes crazy, lol. I'll let you guys know how everthing goes when/if I have time, or Lowell will. Gotta go, my hubby's home =)
