1, 2 Step Like This - DJ FOX (Ciara vs. K7) - for

At Runway, everyone moved at two speeds: fast, and faster. They were in perpetual motion, hoping to move before Miranda caught up to them and demanded even more of the impossible. If one paid close attention, one could discern the individual footsteps of the various Runway staffers -- the short clicks and clacks (and occasional clomps) were distinct to each person, and often reflected their mood even more than any other expression on their face.
For a while, Andrea 'clomped' and sometimes squeaked when her very sensible shoes struck and scuffed the floor the wrong way. Then there was the changeover from clomps to the clicks and clacks of towering high heels that still sometimes caused a squeak of annoyance. After Paris, Miranda refused to consider the New Emily's clicking as a substitute for Andrea. It was difficult enough have to listen to Emily's muttered dismay about the fact that the cast impeded her usual speed never mind the loud thumps it left regardless of how lightly she may have stepped.

At first, all Miranda saw was the sheer lack of grace (among all of the other things found lacking). It was not a game as much as it was a test of wills -- to see whether she could mold this young woman into someone different. She already knew that she wielded a lot of power over the 'masses' as one of the leading Arbiters of Fashion in her role as the Editor-in-Chief at Runway, but this would be the first time that she would able to see the transformation in progress.
Gradually though, she saw a different kind of movement emerge -- one where her body became sleek and revealed the long lines of a background that might have been filled with long-distance running or some other endurance training. It was much looser than the way most Runway staffers moved -- which often times matched their 'clacker' status -- very mechanical and controlled.
Even after Paris, Miranda could not bring herself to lie and entirely forget Andrea, and place her memories into a space to be ignored. She realized that as much as she had sought to transform Andrea (and had succeeded beyond even her own imagining), she had also changed herself, even if it was only for that one moment.
Funky Touch - DJ Clive$ter (Bella Love - Touch Myself vs. Soulwax - NY Lipps) - for

If one could profess actual envy for an inanimate object, then this evening was filled with tomes of lurid confessionals amply dealing with the desire to replace the tip of a pen with something else entirely. It was always quiet in the Runway offices once evening had set in and even the most brown-nosing of Runway clackers had gone home. Emily had already been dismissed from her position of fluttering busyness several hours before with the terse observation that Miranda didn't need two assistants to answer the phones so late in the day.
It would not be until much later that Andrea noticed that Miranda's open door policy meant not only could she see out into the rest of the Runway offices, but one could also see into her own offices without actually having to approach the doorway. So it became a surreptitious effort at watching Miranda without being seen herself. Quietly observing Miranda reviewing the latest submissions, she learned to read the subtle expressions that would spell either praise or doom at the next meeting. The nods, the tilts, the narrowing of the eyes, and of course, the infinite variations on pursed lips.
There were the few times where Miranda had finally gotten used to Andrea's presence in the outer office and let the quiet clicking of keyboard taps fade in to the background did Andrea see the unusual sight of a pen by Miranda's lips. She would never bit her nails; weekly manicures ensured that they would remain pristine. However, the pen was an entirely different matter. It was twirled between long fingers, it clicked open and then shut, it was the origin of the doodles on the borders of the page and sometimes, it carried a message on a Post-It -- a positive one, as opposed to the red pen on Post-It 'NO!' signs. Andrea's quiet grumbles to herself about the craziness of lusting to be a pen did not mean that her attention was diverted away from Miranda's mouth or hands; rather, they served as the focal points of her gaze.

There were certain times when Andy dreamed of the days where she might have chosen to eat a piece of candy for a sudden burst of sugar and sweetness against her tongue. She had gone through periods where she'd had to swear off candy, orthodontic procedures being the longest period (two years!) where chewing or even sucking upon hard candies became a much loved memory. Even now, years after retainers became a memory on their own, Andy hesitated to eat sweets. For one, it was much too easy to leave an odd coloration on her tongue, never mind the difficulty of the same on her lips.
It would be much later before Andrea discovered that sweetness could be found beyond candies. Best yet, even if her lipstick was smudged and needed repair, the look in Miranda's eyes was enough to melt away any hesitation she might have had.
