Season 2 is so bad, isn't it? I don't even know where to start. How can they already be scraping the barrel with plots of supreme absurdity? It's such a waste of costume/set design excellence and cast.
Totally with you on the race issue. I'm a first-generation migrant as well, and people insisting that they know better which country I "truly" belong to make me froth at the mouth. Quite apart from all cultural and political issues - how can the concept of migration be so difficult to understand? Migration has been going on since before homo sapiens evolved, it's an element of what we are as a species. It's like the show was written by teenagers who have no grasp whatsoever of subtleties - political, historical, cultural, gender and race-related, and those of human interaction. Everything is hamfisted and just plain bad. I literally only watch for Athos and Aramis being hot.
And for Louis, of course, whom I continue to adore. I am convinced that he's going to have a good character development arc, where the lessons he learned whilst being kidnapped (another plotline of supreme idiocy) will come back and he'll rally and turn out to be a good guy after all and punch Rochefort in the face. The Louis/Milady thing doesn't bother me all that much - apart from the utter implausibility, but it's not more implausible than anything else that is going on on that show and more plausible than most of the episode storylines. The show has never had the most intelligent plots, but at least in season 1 they were not trying to squeeze every single character with their own dramatic line into each episode, and they weren't pairing off everyone with everyone. It has now become a parade of bad fanfiction clichés.
