Japan trip OMG OMG OMG, The Sequel

SO!  Stuff I needed to do that I've done:

* Sent off for my passport.
* Paid my final payment for the tour.  Holy shit.
* Gotten maps of Osaka, Kyoto, Nara and Tokyo.
* Gotten an international adaptor plug thingie.
* Gotten a very nifty walking-stick (it collapses! Hopefully it'll keep ME from collapsing!)
* Arranged for two very, very wonderful friends to stay at my place while I'm gone and keep the weezuls and cats from having wild parties.
* Researched places to go and things to see.
* Lost seven pounds total in the last few weeks.  NOT ENOUGH.  Working on it!
* Freaked out quite a lot when I discovered that my ryokan in Nara was actually in Oji.
* Stopped freaking out when I realized that they're pretty damn close together.

The diet-and-exercise-plan is going full tilt; I'm learning about all sorts of foods I had declined to try-- do y'all know how freaking DELICIOUS couscous is?  I mean, I've always liked it, but I hadn't considered it a main dinner-food before, just a side dish.  Sooo tasty...  As for excercise, I took a few days off from it due to wrenching my knee; was gonna get back on the horse tonight but I think it'll be tomorrow night instead.  **guilty** Am eating dinner right now, and it's harder to exercise after I've eaten.  Tomorrow, though, I swear!

There's so much I want to see on this trip; I wish I was going to have more time after the tour's over instead of just four days, but that's how it is-- I'll just have to save up and go back some day.  I'd love to go up north to Hokkaido in the winter, or to Kyoto in the spring; paying for this, of course, is the problem... but isn't it always?  And I can dream; things always start with a dream or they never go anywhere.

There are other places I want to see:  Rome, Wales again, Canada, Egypt, Thailand, Vietnam, Iceland... so many places.  Think my next target should be Wales, though-- heh, I keep aiming for smallish island nations.  Oh well, they're easy to travel in and they have lots of beaches; can't go wrong with that.  ^__^
