RIGHT. Question for y'all out there (and answer anonymously if you want, that's fine, or list your name with pride.)
Have any of y'all had experiences, good or bad, with the Atkins Diet? 'Cause I'm looking at it right now. I need to get in better shape, in better health; I'm tired of being heavier than I ought to be, and I'm not so overweight

While it's not really a good "diet" per-say I loved "French Women Don't Get Fat"-- it's a bit amusing, and while some of the stuff she says is a little extreme (she has one of those soup/detox things) I also think she has quite a bit more sense. Incorporating some of of her ideas and recipes have still been the most helpful.
Right now I've just been going through all the different dieting books trying to get inspiration-- it sorta keeps "eating healthy" fresh in my mind. If any perk more then other's I'll drop a message-- Pollen for example seemed more a study of food culture rather than particularly useful-- and sugar busters glorified itself more than it actually gave any useful advice. (A couple decent charts but I got tired rather quickly of hearing about how well it worked).
Frankly I hate the Skinny Bitch books. I have no problem with vegan concepts-- but she takes it too far and much of the book seems rather hypocritical. I've also read enough health books at this point to find rather consistent studies that disprove quite a few things she makes cases for.
Honestly carblover's is probably the next one I'm picking up because I went off carbs for a while and my sugar was crashing like crazy and I ended up going completely crazy.
...Really not sure any of that was useful-- but like I said I've been on a health book reading spree lately and it's been interesting to see the crossovers and different aspects.
Good luck!
