Writer's Block: Last Night's Dreams

Feb 09, 2008 17:15

Hmmmm.... I can't recall anything from last night, but I *do* remember the previous night's dream; it's one I've had before.  Weird, weird dream...

I'm on a sort of flat place high, high in the mountains-- enormous mountains, MUCH bigger than wherever-it-is that I'm at, all snowcapped.  There's snow on the ground, not much; there's maybe a dozen or a little more people standing around, packing things up to carry (no horses or vehicles, just people) and everybody's all wrapped up in heavy clothes against the cold.  There's this big THING like an oven-- men are working on what I *think* is smelting some sort of metal in it.  It looks just like one of those mud-and-brick ovens that I've seen built at SCA wars, only as tall as a person and huge, with this little sort of hole down low that they get the hot metal out of.  It gets poured into these dug-out places in the ground shaped like a capital letter I; not sure what kind of metal it is, because I'm standing back a ways watching them pour the hot metal.  It stinks; there's a huge amount of steam and a smell of burned... earth, I guess?  Everybody's standing around watching, really dark against the snow-- I'm not paying attention to what people are wearing (and I have no idea what I'm wearing, for that matter, except that it's all wrapped around me).  I move a little closer, and the last thing I remember seeing is a stack of the ingot-things tied together in bunches.

Weird dream.  Metal-casting?  Very primitive.  Me, I tend to put some credence in the idea of reincarnation; so, having had this dream maybe a half-dozen times before, I wonder every now and then if it's not a sort of leftover memory, a scrap that didn't get washed away.  Dunno.  It's not very exciting or anything; I have no clue in the dream who I am, what I look like or even how old I am-- I'm not even doing anything but watching what's going on.

Anyway... that's it.  **shrug shrug**
