Horrifying people is half the fun. >=D I swear I make the cracks I do half 'cause of the reactions I know I'll get (and the look on their face is always perfect: abject horror struggling with disbelief...XD)
It's fun to geek out with friends, though. Loqi and I once spent half a hour (and subsequent meetings in person/on MSN) arguing about whether raindrops falling on one's head was "painful" enough to warrant "ow". XD
As for the natural gas thing...I believe there has to be some somewhere, but definitely not many; Japan imports most of its domestic energy demands. According to Wikipedia, it does have coal, but imports just about everything else. As Ekoda is probably city-dwelling (since Shinichi is the ( ... )

If you look toward the bottom has resource facts they import a LOT more that they make but they do have some natrual gas production.

Personally, I think when you have shorter hair you look taller...which is pretty good for a hobbit....
