Perfume
Hi to fellow J-Pop fans! I know this is already late but better late than never. I just received my “Mugenmirai” singles a few days ago. Perfume released their new single last March 14th. “Mugenmirai” is the theme for the last Chihayafuru film. This is sort of like a collaboration within Amuse. Some Amuse actors like Nomura Shuhei, Kaku Kento and Kiyohara Kaya are part of the film. While, Perfume is responsible for the movie theme.
Perfume released three versions for this single. Two limited editions with DVDs. One is the Perfume version while the other is the Chihayafuru version. Perfume version DVD contains the music video of "Mugenmirai" and "making of" of the music video and the MC part of the docomo collaboration. While, the Chihayafuru version contains the commentary of the main cast of Chihayafuru regarding "Mugenmirai". Aside from the two LE's, they also released a regular edition containing only a CD.
Perfume for Mugenmirai
What do I think of the songs?
“Mugenmirai” sounds so refreshing to me. I love how the song opened it up with the piano and with NOCCHi’s voice. Some Perfume fans admittedly don’t like NOCCHIi’s voice but I find it somehow good. NOCCHi has the least good voice among the members. I think it’s her weakness while dancing is one of her strong points. I think she’s the star for Mugenmirai when I first watched their performance in Music Station for the song. And when I first heard the song, the line “Maybe so, maybe so” got stuck on my head.
Regarding the lyrics of “Mugenmirai”, Yasutaka Nakata again wrote a very touching song. “Mugenmirai” literally translates to “Infinite Future” or “Endless Future”.
While for “Fusion”, I find this track to be leaning to the EDM side of Perfume. This sounds so futuristic! I first heard this song when Perfume collaborated with docomo for a cutting-edge display of technology once again. Perfume members were at different places in the world while they perform this at the same time. a-chan was in Tokyo. Yuka-chan was in London while NOCCHi was in New York! It was absolutely stunning and mindblowing!
I also love the instrumental version of “Mugenmirai”. It sounds so sweet to my ears!
Overall, I think Perfume delivered another excellent single. Thank you to Team Perfume for always surprising us with excellent style and music!
