Suzuki Ryuhei and Ohno Satoshi in Mumon: The Land of Stealth

A block screening for Shinobi no Kuni or Mumon: The Land of Stealth was held on August 26, 2017, Saturday at SM Light Mall, Boni, Mandaluyong, Philippines. It was spearheaded by Johnny's Jimusho fans: Shinobi no Kuni Philippines, JUMP SOS and Matsumoto Jun Philippines and was sponsored by GEM TV Asia and Quantum.

I arrived at SM Light Mall at around 2pm and decided to just hang out at Wendy's. Apparently, my friends from the organizing team were already there at the same fastfood restaurant! We hadn't met for a long time so we tried to catch up first before the registration of the event. When 3pm came, several fans already lined up for the registration. Many fans of HEY! SAY! JUMP and ARASHI were present at the event to support Ohno Satoshi (ARASHI) and Chinen Yuri (HEY! SAY! JUMP). I lined up at the ARASHI queue. They gave us the the tickets and a free Shinobi no Kuni poster! While the registration was on going, I took some photos and had an instagram live. JUMP SOS is also selling some fandom merchandise. They had posters and watches! You may still purchase some of the goods. Head to their facebook page. Filipina actress, Thea Tolentino, is also present at the event. She's a Yamada Ryosuke fan!

Before the screeing of the movie itself, we had a short program. We had raffle giveaways. Unfortunately, I don't have any luck with raffles so I didn't win anything. The prizes were so cool! Some won goods from GEM TV Asia and Quantum. Some won fandom goods like posters and stuff. After the short program, the screening of the movie finally started!

The movie started with fight scenes between the ninjas of Iga Province. I love the fight scenes. It's not the usual serious fight scene you see in action movies since the movie is also a comedy. It went serious when Mumon (Ohno Satoshi) killed a fellow ninja for a reward. With his action, this led to a battle between the shinobi corps of Ige province and Oda Nobukatsu (Chinen Yuri) corps in Ise.

I slightly squealed when Suzuki Ryuhei appeared on the screen! I loved him when I watched him in Tokyo Tarareba Musume. I commend his serious acting here. Suzuki Ryuhei played as Shimoyama Heibee, the brother of the ninja Mumon killed. He is full of vengeance over the death of his brother thus he betrayed his clan.

Iseya Yusuke was also splendid in playing his character. He's absolutely an excellent actor as always! He acted as one of Oda Nobukatsu's (Chinen) undermen. I loved his fierce acting in going against Oda Nobukatsu.

I also had some fangirl moments when Chinen appeared on the screen. Knowing HEY! SAY! JUMP when they were just little kids, I couldn't see them as adults now. Chinen is already 24 years old but I still see him as a 14 year old and a boy who twirls in their performances. I felt pity over him when he cried at one scene. Chinen Yuri played as Oda Nobukatsu, Oda Nobunaga's son. He feels pressure being his son.

I also commend Ishihara Satomi's acting here. I love her portrayal of an intimidating wife. I find it really funny! I must also say that even though this movie is a comedy; I cried at the scene where Okuni (Ishihara Satomi) died. That scene really touched my heart. Ohno was incredible while crying for his beloved's life.

And as for Ohno, I remembered his dorama, "Maou", since he was so creepy at some scenes. I especially loved that one moment when he faced the camera to entertain the audience while he was running! He sure is amazing playing the character, Mumon. According to what I've read online, he went on a rigorous training to learn how to handle the battle scenes.

Even though the beloved of Mumon, Okuni, died, the movie ended on a happy note. Mumon decided to take care of the child who was fated to be a ninja as well.

When the film ended, ARASHI's song, Tsunagu, played. But unfortunately, it was cut off in the middle. Too bad!

After the block screening, my friends and I ate at Shakey's! Yes for pasta and pizza!

After, we decided to hang out more in Metrowalk, Ortigas. We had karaoke and we sang Johnny's Jimusho songs like WISH, We can make it, A.ra.shi., We can make it, Pikanchi Double, Kibou Yell, Sukiyanen, Osaka, Ultra Music Power and other J-Pop songs such as Glamorous Sky, Polyrhythm, Heavy Rotation, etc. We also sang some K-Pop songs too! If you want to sing your favorite J-Pop and K-Pop tunes, visit Platinum in Metrowalk, Ortigas!

Karaoke!

Afer the karaoke session, we decided to head home at around 12 midnight.

Thank you to the organizers, sponsors and also to my friends for making my August 26, 2017 memorable! Cheers for more Japanese films in Philippine cinemas!
