A year ago, I wrote about schools that offer Nihongo classes. You may read the full entry on my
tumblr account. I only wrote about five options which are the Nihongo Center Foundation, Unmei Nihongo Center, UP Department of Linguistics, Tesda Language Skills Institute, and the Japan Foundation Manila. Little did I know that Jellyfish Education Consultancy also offers Nihongo classes too.
But first, WHAT IS JELLYFISH EDUCATION CONSULTANCY?
Jellyfish Education Consultancy is a consultancy firm that offers study in Japan courses and of course, Nihongo classes too. The firm was established in 2007 in Japan. They have eight branches in countries like Indonesia and Vietnam other than the Philippines. The Philippine site was opened and registered under Securities and Exchange Commission in July 2012. The firm goes by their management policy "Expand your Horizon".
JEC has two branches here in the Philippines. One in Manila and one can be found in Cebu.

JELLYFISH EDUCATION CONSULTANCY NIHONGO CLASS
The Nihongo classes conducted by the Jellyfish Education Consultancy is an international based curriculum that was established with the help of Tochigi International Education Institute. The full course has a total of 30 hours worth of Nihongo classes taught by a native Japanese teacher. The main objective of their course is “to educate the people about the importance of learning Nihongo not only for use in Japan but to improve their competitive advantage in a global level.” The firm offers basic to advanced classes that will help learners to achieve the JLPT level they are aiming for.
JEC offers this following schedules:
- Tuesday and Thursday afternoons (1:30 pm - 5:00 pm)
- Tuesday and Thursday evenings (6:30 pm - 9:00 pm)
- Wednesday and Friday mornings (9:00 am - 12:30 pm)
- Wednesday and Friday afternoons (1:30 pm - 5:00 pm)
- Saturday mornings (9:00 am - 12:30 pm)
- Saturday afternoons (1:30 - 5:00 pm)
The full 30 hour course costs 7,500 Php. There will be a 500 Php discount if you pay in full or in cash. JEC also presents an installment payment. The first payment is 1,000 Php as a reservation for your slot. The next payment is 3,500 Php before the class starts and the remaining 3,000 Php should be paid after 14 days the class started.
To enroll, you will need to fill up their application form that will be provided by the JEC., 2pcs. 1x1 photo and 1,000 Php as reservation for your slot or 7,000 Php if full or in cash.
If you complete the course, you will be given a certificate of completion or recognition and also tokens for students who excelled in the program. Your efforts will be recognized if you have “Perfect Attendance” with no late and no absent, “Best Examination Result” for getting the highest score on all activities and exams and “Most Active Student” for actively participating in class. The certificates will be given in the Recognition Day; at the end of the class.
The Nihongo classes will be taught by Mr. Saito Yusuke in the Manila office. He's a native Japanese who was trained by Tochigi International Education Institute and a student from Nara Kyoiku Daigaku. Meanwhile, Mr. Daisuke Wada is the Japanese teacher in the Cebu office. He was a professor at Tochigi International Education Institute in Japan for two months. His level in the English Language is TOEIC 50.

Aside from the Nihongo classes offered by the JEC, they also offer three other programs. These are “Study, Live and Experience Japan”, “Internship in Japan” and “Educational Tour”.
STUDY, LIVE AND EXPERIENCE JAPAN
The “Study, Live and Experience Japan” program offer by the JEC is a “stepping stone” for college graduates who aim to build their career or seek extensive studies in Japan for one to two years. In order to support one student’s living expenses, he or she will be given the option to work a part-time job for a maximum of 28 hours. This could also be a way to practice the student’s Japanese language skills. After the said program, the students can also be given the option to work in Japan or go back to their home country to apply what they have learned.
INTERNSHIP IN JAPAN
JEC offers internship in Japan for Hospitality Management and Culinary Arts undergraduates. This program will provide on hands training in the Japanese hospitality and food industry for three months or a one year program.
EDUCATIONAL TOUR
The “Educational Tour” is offered by their mother company, Jellyfish INC, found in Shinigawa-ku, Tokyo, Japan. This certain program aims to expand the horizon of expectators by offering an experiential tour in Japan. This also focuses on education and in-depth cultural appreciation of Japan.
JAPAN EDUCATION FAIR AND CONVENTION
You may actually find Jellyfish Education Consultancy in some anime conventions as well. I’ve actually seen them in one for sure. They also handle seminars in several places around the country.
JEC has an event open for all Japanese popular culture enthusiasts. The Japan Education Fair and Convention is an annual event held by the both Manila and Cebu offices of JEC with the collaboration of the Philippine Japan Embassy and the Japan Foundation Manila. The registration for this event is free.
The very first Japan Education Fair was held at The Japan Foundation Manila on August 9, 2014. It was followed by the second Japan Education Fair and Convention on September 13, 2015 which was attended by local and international exhibitors from different universities, vocational schools and language schools in Japan. From the success of the previous events, JEC pushed through with the third Japan Education Fair and Convention on September 3, 2016 at Decagon Silver City.
